Searching for wildlife in the middle of the city

in WE ARE MOVING3 years ago
When you've lived in the country all your life, surrounded by chickens, pigs, horses, birds of all kinds and insects, it's a big change to move to a place where the "greenest" space you'll see is a neighbor's garden.

This Sunday I went out with @denyscano for a walk near the sea. On the way back, I took some pictures of all the non-human life I found along the way. I loved the result, so I'm sharing it with you today.

The expansion of human populations into natural areas, indiscriminate hunting, the introduction of exotic species and the effect of climate change are factors that represent real threats to biodiversity throughout the Caribbean.

We can still see a variety of wild birds in urban areas. These species (sparrow, pigeon) have managed to survive in unfavorable environments. They nest in elevated areas of buildings, air conditioning shafts and leafy trees.

In recent years, the media have been doing educational work on the importance of bees for the ecosystem. They play a leading role in pollination, thanks to which thousands of plants can reproduce, expand and serve as food for humans and other animals.

Cats are control agents for small mammals such as mice. Without them, the proliferation of deadly diseases such as rabies, bubonic plague and toxoplasmosis would represent a very serious problem for the human species.

The infinite beauty of the living beings that surround us is reason enough to pause when we walk down the street just to appreciate them. Knowing their role in the ecosystem helps us to create awareness about our actions towards them.
