Art Talk: Chihuly in Oklahoma

in Art Talk3 months ago

Another Chihuly post from me. This is the last of my Eclipse trip. The airline prices were so high to fly into Dallas for the eclipse. So we flew in and out of Oklahoma City and drove over to Texas.

Because we were going to be in Oklahoma we went to see Chihuly at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. It was a special 20 year celebration.

Oklahoma Persian Ceiling

I love the colors and shapes of the glass ceilings! It is mesmerizing.

All types of his glass was represented and I had never seen the red and black Seal Pups below.

There is a permeant statement piece as you enter the museum. It is really spectacular.

Jerusalem 2000 Cylinders

Putti

The putti are the pieces that surprise me each time. I don't look at them and think Chihuly like I do with a lot of his other pieces.

Seaforms

These blue seaforms are GORGEOUS!

Drawings

I really like Chihuly's drawings or paintings too!

Hope you enjoyed this tour of the Chihuly exhibition at Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Having seen Chihuly through your posts so many times now, I'm starting to be recognize his style a little. The Putti collection looks more formal and doesn't have much nature theme in them. But they're still very nice!

It is true when I was telling @mipiano about the collection called Chihuly Groupies I saw I had 33 posts in there. I have another one coming soon. I also saw him in North Carolina this year. :)

Hi @sjarvie5

How great this exhibition was, I had not heard of Chihuly, but now I have checked out his works. I loved the sea forms but the colourful ceiling is my favourite, it's incredible. It must have really been a fascinating experience to be there and see it from that angle! 😍

Yes, I am huge fan of Chihuly. I have a collection called Chihuly Groupie with 33 posts. That reminds me I need to put this post in there. Yes, that ceiling is really awesome.

I do see now, that you are a real and faithful fan of this artist, you have this huge collection of posts about his work. Thank you for the heads up, @sjarvie5 🤗

Ohhh dear these are amazing, I don't think I will be able to leave this place in a hurry if I am opportune to ever go there.

It is quite mesmerizing. I hope you get to see Chihuly's work someday. He does exhibit all over the world.

I love the Persian ceiling, it's beautiful, it would be great to have one at home, it would give it a unique touch.

Agreed! That would be very cool.

Oooo, what a great display! You know how I love Chihuly. ;-) That sea foam one is really neat!

Is this a permanent display? I should definitely get to Oklahoma in the foreseeable future.

The permanent display is very impressive. They had a few more pieces for the 20 year celebration. Here is a post that will give you a better idea of the permeant pieces.
