GOD IS A WOMAN: AN IRREVERENT EXHIBITION THAT ENHANCES THE SPIRITUALITY OF THE FEMALE COMPONENT | CONTINUING MY VISIT TO THE NATIONAL ART GALLERY

I recently made a visit to the National Art Gallery where I allowed myself to appreciate a fragment of the history of art in Venezuela, on that occasion I delighted myself with wonderful exhibitions of consecrated national artists, but a specific solo show caught my attention, represented with a very powerful title I found "God is Woman" a series of pieces by the plastic artist David Cedeño; with more than 40 years of experience as a researcher, draftsman, painter, sculptor, engraver, a versatile artist, who did not adhere to any particular current or form of expression; however, currently, he frequently expresses himself using Collage, through which he has managed to break and cross new borders.
Hace poco realice una visita a la Galería de Arte nacional donde me permití apreciar un fragmento de la historia del arte en Venezuela, en aquella oportunidad me deleite con maravillosas exposiciones de artistas nacionales consagrados, pero una muestra individual en específico me cautivo la atención, representada con un título muy poderoso me encontré con "Dios es Mujer" un seriado de piezas del artista plástico David Cedeño; con más de 40 años de trayectoria como investigador, dibujante, pintor, escultor, grabador, un artista versátil, que no se adhirió a alguna corriente o forma de expresión en particular; sin embargo, en la actualidad, se manifiesta con frecuencia usando el Collage, a través del cual ha logrado romper y traspasar nuevas fronteras.
In this contested proposal, entitled "God is Woman", irreverent, as the author himself defines it; for this creator who abandoned his medical studies to dedicate himself to artistic research, this exhibition represents "an amalgam of multiple paths that intersect." Today, he seeks to explore new frontiers in the imagination and in past art, to give it a new reading in modern times, highlighting themes such as the feminine component, sexuality, occultism, the dark side of thought and the mind, the grotesque, beauty and the contrast with ugliness, are part of that inner game that drives him and moves his creative spirit.
En esta propuesta contestaría, titulada "Dios es Mujer" irreverente, como él mismo autor la define; para este creador que abandonó sus estudios de medicina para dedicarse a la investigación artística, esta exposición representa “una amalgama de múltiples vías que se cruzan”. Hoy, busca explorar nuevas fronteras en el imaginario y en el arte pasado, para darle una nueva lectura en los tiempos modernos, resaltando temas como el componente femenino, la sexualidad, el ocultismo, el lado oscuro del pensamiento y la mente, lo grotesco, la belleza y el contraste con la fealdad, hacen parte de ese juego interior que lo impulsa y mueve su espíritu creador.
Week after week, I have been sharing with you a little bit of Venezuelan culture and thought through the art of great exponents who have left these records throughout history and which are preserved today in majestic temples such as the museums that protect the artistic heritage of the nation. Semana tras semana, les he venido compartiendo un poco de la cultura y el pensamiento venezolano a través del arte de grandes exponentes que han dejado estos registros plasmados a lo largo de la historia y que hoy en día se conservan en majestuosos templos como lo son los museos que resguardan el patrimonio artístico de la nación; pronto les seguiré compartiendo un poca más de mis experiencias visitando los museos en la capital del país.
