The weekend starts here, with 6 meetings and 44 races to cogitate over. The action gets under way with the 13:30 at Haydock, and winds down at Kempton Park with their last race at 21:00.

6th September

Garry Owen returned to the winners enclosure, with Leaves Of Grass grabbing the first victory of her short 4 race career. She jumped out of the gates well, briefly led, but quickly headed. Settled in alongside the leader, continually pressing. Urged on around the 2f marker, surging clear coming off the turn for home. Ridden from just over 1f, as the the eventual second moved forward into second, always closing. Stayed on well inside the final 100 yards to win by a neck on the line. That made it 5 wins from 6 selections this month and grabbed us a return for our strategy of £0.30, £0.04 extra thanks to the BOG offer.

7th September

Not so much luck with this selection Lequinto, finishing 6th out of a 13 runner field. That finishing postion on its own, however, doesn't give the full picture of the race. The winner did finish just over a length ahead. The next 5 were all within a half length of each. Lequinto ran the majority of this 6f sprint in midfield, found himself with a good clear run up the inside coming around the bend, and began making his move. The winner moved clear 1f out, as the chasing pack battled it out for the minor placings, with our pick not quite having enough pace to stay in contention at the line. The loss on the day, however, still leaves slightly in profit for the month at £0.58

Garry remains alone atop the monthly leaderboard with a record of 5 Wins and 2 Losses, thus we follow his selection today.

Four times a winner over this with two of those victories coming in May and August this year, both with today's jockey on board. That last win, he beat another of today's field Digital into 6th place. 6lb higher in rating by the handicapper, mitigated by the jockey being able to claim 7lb, so still expected to be well in contention.

Yesterday's pick was a non-runner, so bet voided and stake returned.

Today we head to Newcastle for our each way punt series of bets, with my bookie once again offering 4 places instead of 3.
