Uncertainty as a factor of evolution

Humanity is increasingly thirsty for certainty. What might previously have been considered uncertain now seems to be completely rejected.

But critical and scientific thinking does not say that. In fact, it is exactly the opposite.

Something that is certain today may be proven “tomorrow” to be incorrect, and the following week another study may appear that restores what the first one said! Everything is valid.

We see this almost every year, when around this time, studies from various universities are published discussing the properties of certain alcoholic beverages. This is the case with red wine. Acclaimed almost everywhere as an important source of tannins, due to its action in reducing low-density lipoproteins, such as cholesterol, promoting an increase in low-density cholesterol or LDL.

But just as one person says this, another claims that the harmful effects of alcohol in the drink lead to liver dysfunction, with glycogen accumulation, which can lead to fatty liver... Not to mention the insulin spike it causes due to the sugars present.

But all this talk about science and nutrition is not the main point of my post today.

I am making these considerations so that you understand that if even something that is more easily measurable than human behavior is subject to change, how much more so something as complex as an opinion or outlook on life.

We think that because we are sure of an idea, or a strong conviction, we have to take it to our grave!

Most of the time, people are led to make a commitment to the ideas or thoughts they had. As if that made them more trustworthy.

I'm going to talk a little more about myself now. When I was younger, I believed that it was possible for a society to prosper with a more left-wing political model. I'm not talking about communism exactly, but something a little more centrist.

This idea I had, after a few years of working, showed me that I was wrong. Of course, a political model with social support is important, but the sustainability of the entire system is based on tax collection, which is not paid by those who do not seek to perform a task, or by those who evade the IRS by not declaring the income they obtain from their work illegally (without an invoice or receipt).

Today, I look back and see how naive I was. I believed that those who resorted to the system to receive state support were always acting in good faith, and that they would prefer not to be receiving any subsistence allowances.

I saw several situations in which the support provided by the state was more beneficial to these people, to such an extent that not only did they not actively seek employment, but even when the Employment Center referred them to an employer, these people would ask the employer to issue a statement saying that they had not been able to employ them...

A real mess. Isn't that true?

Of course, perfect political systems do not exist, but those who talk about politics can also talk about society.

The uncertainty that our convictions of yesterday are the same as those of today only leads us to discover new paths, solutions, and horizons. The stagnation of one's own ideas leads to the consolidation of the mind, which in no way promotes proper and mature social development.
