Its all ramping up these days, the hate, division and ultimately the violence that follows. Well done on the guy that tackled one of them

Yeah that was a pretty brave move. I get the not willing to shoot, but should have used the butt to give him a knock. Weird that the police didn't come in at that point, as the guy made it back to get another gun.

Yeah, I am reading up on more of it just now. Blummin horrifying

16 people now. I've been to Bondi... but irrespective of where it was it shouldn't happen. My sister lives in Sydney, the first this I thought was, did she go to the beach that day?

She didn't.

Thankfully.. it is a horror show. It just seems that more and more people give less of a fuck about innocents.

Yep, many reasons for that too but humans are too focused on themselves to see it, or care.

Humans are degenerating in real time

Yeah it is terrible. More coming I expect.

I would have pulled the trigger on that cunt, not let him walk away...although difficult to say when not in the moment. Either way, at least one person did the right thing and that helped a few other run the other way.

possible the person didn't know how to. Though, could have tried. He didn't seem like a natural with it in his hands.

Yeah, I agree, didn't look all that comfortable but at least he acted.

For sure. Hard to know what I would do in the situation.

I only just heard about it, so don't really know too much to be honest. I can't imagine how scary it would be to be there and for those who have lost a loved one. It's tragic, but there is just so many tragedies these days. What times we are living in.

Absolutely terrible for the people there and families and the like. It isn't common in Australia, but will likely get more so. Everyone wants to be like the US....

In my country we don't have shootings, we are more of knife, and machete. But, more than 10 people killed, that's tragic, and it is one of my fears if someday I become an inmigrant, again, we are not gun people

Shootings are pretty rare in Australia too - knife and machete seems to be the normal around the world.

Yes, when I watched the news, I said: Australia?? Na na. In fact my brain forgot everything about it, till I saw your coment. I thought it was a dream( Bad dream)

Just watching it right now on Al-jazeera, its truly tragic, violence leaves scars that go far beyond the moment itself.

I expect there will be many more such events to come. The problem when we polarize people against each other based on identity points, is that people are no longer people, they are targets.

Yep and once that happens, empathy gives way to outrage, and conversations that should be insightfulare replaced by accusations. If we want real progress, we need more space for context and learning otherwise we risk deepening divisions, which will inevitably lead to unfortunate outcomes like this.

If we want real progress, we need more space for context and learning otherwise we risk deepening divisions,

Unfortunately - nuance is dead.

What's happened in Australia, it's a horrible thing. I express my solidarity with the Jewish people and my call for the world not to continue allowing these atrocities.

I think it is just going to ramp up. There are too many sides. Too much hate. So many broken people.

I still wonder if the world without religions would be better? Probably not- people are too fond of killing each other to stop. Nevertheless I am sad about all the victims.

Recently in Lithuania some scum killed two young women. I heard that he was caught by citizens. After that the story got even weirder... after he was already arrested in his social media account someone posted an apology post. At that point he should not have had a phone because he was already in the camera and he claims that he did not posted anything.

I was also really pissed off that some bastards who hit the dog's head with a shovel 12(?) times and will only have to pay a fine or do some public works for this. In my opinion scum like that should be in prison for at least 10 years...
