RE: WTF: What age were you when?

Getting properly drunk I think was New Years Eve when I must have been 15 or 16. I remember turning up at a few house parties but I was never quite sure how’d got there!

First real kiss was Sara May in the bushes at school must have been about 10. A couple of years later a pulled her older sister too. That’s as cool as I’ve ever been.

I’m not sure that Sara and I were really classed as girlfriend boyfriend but when I was about 11 I was with a girl called Julie Roebuck. One Christmas she bought me a teddy bear with a love heart. I was so embarrassed I hid it in my bedroom because I didn’t want my mates or family to take the piss.

Never keen on smoking but probably about 14 or 15 because well everyone has to once! I remember having really bad earache the whole of the next day.

I held off getting a smartphone until about 10 years ago so well into my 30s. Solid decision. Life is just more exciting without being constantly connected. In my 20s I traveled extensively overland all without the help of Google maps or translation software. Sometimes I wonder if I’d be able to cope with that these days.

I had a paper round when I was 13 then worked in a pub with restaurant from 16. Legally you’re not supposed to serve behind the bar until you’re 18 but I was pulling pints at 17.

Never had anything pierced and no intention to do so. I did however have a part-time job while at uni making body jewellery in a local workshop. I held the record for most push fitted belly button bars in an hour - may as well try and make a boring job more interesting!

I could write a whole series of blogs about how fate seemed to cock block me at every opportunity in my mid teens. I was 18 when I finally broke my duck.

Moved out to go to uni at 18 and never went back. I’m very close to my family but always enjoyed my independence.

Married at 29. Not quite a shotgun wedding but the decision was certainly brought forward due to the Mrs being unexpectedly pregnant. Blame a combination of champagne, a five star hotel room and a jacuzzi on that one. We’re still happily married nearly 14 years on with 2 beautiful boys.

We've all had some of these nights!

Quite a different world when not connected to the internet. I have never backpacked, but it is very different today than it was pre-smartphone I have heard.

I wonder if there is a Guinness category?

Was the second down to a bottle of champagne also? ;)

No, that one was planned but it took 5 years to get over the shock of the first one before deciding on the second. You could call it the longest hangover ever. Another one for the Guinness book …
