This is about certainty. Humans always expect certainty from future plans, when in fact the only certain future is death. I don't mean to scare you, but rather to remind you that our lives are not eternal.
In the midst of modern life, we often witness people living and surviving. Some are willing to become monsters to survive, while others remain steadfast on the path to goodness. Which do we do?...
No matter what we do, when we die, all our work will end, and companies will find replacements. Families will slowly forget, and our loved ones will slowly find new lovers. In other words, if you are gone, the world will continue. Jobs will be filled, our positions and status within our work will be replaced, and time never waits.
I don't mean to discourage you, but to remind you that what makes us meaningful is not our position in the company we work for, or how much wealth we leave behind, but the value we leave behind. A meaningful and benevolent presence isn't just about eating, sleeping, and playing. Because traces of kindness are irreplaceable.
There's a saying that says, perhaps today we're above ground: walking, working, eating, and vacationing, but perhaps tomorrow or the day after, we'll be underground, lying stiff, buried alone, without a friend. Let's strive to leave behind memories and meanings of kindness in our deaths so that we will live forever in the memories and words of others.
