Until about seventy thousand years ago there was multiple human species on the planet, Homo Sapiens (that's us), Homo floresiensis, Neanderthal, Denisovans, Homo Erectus and so forth, all located in different places: Africa, Eurasia, Indonesia, Siberia and other places. Now...they're all extinct except us. (Note: Wouldn't the world be an interesting place with multiple human species inhabiting it?)
I'm not a paleoanthropologist or scientist however understand that Homo Sapiens (us) evolved from the Neanderthal - We developed our cognitive thought to levels before unseen; the ability to acquire and store information and to retrieve and manipulate it. Neanderthals had such abilities, the ability to understand the benefit of tools and the skill of knapping - the shaping of flint, obsidian and other such materials - but they were underdeveloped when compared to Homo Sapiens. The latter developed those cognitive abilities much further and begun to understand farming which meant we needed to stay in place rather than roaming (hunting and gathering) as the seasons turned and game migrated or plant-life came into or went out of season.
That meant settlements were created and...well, here we are today. We evolved.
A few days ago I watched the (shameful) behaviours of a couple of individuals who should have known better, cognitive thought and all. The behaviours were counter-productive to the greater good of others and the common goal and I wondered what might have happened back in the day should a bunch of Neanderthals have been in the same situation; a quick club to the head? Some form of banishment? I don't know, but humans have survived for a reason and Darwin's theory of natural selection is one of the reasons. I figure that bad actors were dealt with rather harshly back in the day though.
It got me thinking about the human ability to evolve; I have, after all, done so myself throughout my life, as have you.
Maybe evolve isn't the right word for the progression and development through an individual's life though as I'm not sure it can occur, in lasting ways, in such a short period of time, but I've certainly changed my thoughts and beliefs, gained knowledge and understanding and let things fall away as unneeded or unwanted so I could progress in better ways. I've developed personally and professionally, worked to change for the better, have more meaningful relationships and to be a better person to others when they deserve it, worked on releasing negativity and focusing on better thoughts, attitudes and actions...That's evolution-of-self I guess right?
All of these things have been inspired by the experiences I've had in life, no different from a Neanderthal person seeing a wild dog at the watering hole and all of a sudden having the thought that catching then training it to hunt with him could be of benefit; and so he or she began to evolve into something different, better hopefully - that's cognitive thought in action. I figure you've done the same...evolved as an individual over the course of your life and sought a better version of yourself and better outcomes.
There's been a few instances, events and experiences in my life that have brought about great change; not all were initially positive things but the change that came from them has usually been so, eventually. I wonder if you've had similar experiences, or at least experiences that have caused positive change to occur personally and in your life.
If you have and would like to share something please do so in the comments below; don't give away any secrets of course, but feel free to share, or just comment on anything you'd like...maybe an area in which you'd like to evolve and develop.

This sums up that there is a piece of animal in all of us and it require a little spark to get loose. But somehow we manage to control the spark with some positive thoughts, learning and using our brain at times.
We're always learning and changing because of the experiences we have and lessons we learn from them I guess; the danger comes when we don't learn or make the relevant changes, that's called stagnation.
Learning has always been an important part of life. Stagnation always lead to no where, and never make progress. like indiscipline in schools means punishment, so i becomes more disciplined in life. being bullied at various stages,, i develop empathy and stands for any wrong done.
It is not that only our life teaches us many things, even looking around us, teaches us many things.
I'm a big fan of discipline, much in my life (and other's) have been achieved through deploying discipline. It's not easy, it takes work, but the rewards often come.
I belive in same...it helps in structuring everything nicely
I believe in the saying that experience is the best teacher. Most of my self improvement and development in my youth came after some teasing and mistakes. I didn't change just because of the teasing, but those helped point out what was wrong with what I am doing. So I learned to look after myself, improved my hygiene, how I present myself, and other things. Since then, I have been my own worst critic. I constantly strive for efficiency, and I take what I think are good things from others to help improve myself. This has translated to work ethic, performance, and presentations.
Mistakes and failures are an amazing way to learn, develop and grow.
I don't think there's anything wrong with seeking to be more efficient, continual improvement is a far better thing to seek that perfection; the latter is unattainable and the former within everyone's grasp.
Humans are animals but real animals like dogs and cats are far loyal and caring in comparison to humans. Humans have evolved so much that they have learned to bite with words but dogs, cats don't have ability to utter words that's why they cannot harm our heart with words.
Secondly, we all are product of our surroundings. Our reactions come from whatever surrounding is acting and then we react according to act that is coming towards us. In this act and react process, we learn.
There is role of imitation in learning and evolving process.
I think a lot of animals are better behaved than humans; with cognitive thought came the ability for hatred, deception, ego, pride, greed and so on, all things that derail human to human interaction.
Have you ever had to change, wanted to change something about yourself that you realised after an experience or an event and if so how did it go for you?
This is my habit that after spending time with humans I invest my emotions along with time investment. In the plans of next year, I think I should add one more resolution that I want to be emotionally stabled person. It always hurts to build a castle of expectations with humans. I should understand that people around me will not or can not act in the way i am acting towards them.
I should learn the rule of advantage.
That's a good lesson to learn, the one about others not acting the same as you no matter how much you may want them to. It's best on focusing energy on controlling that which is within your ability to control (yourself I mean), rather than trying to change or control others.
Most people resist pain and problems, but when we change the chip and see everything differently and do not fight against the current, life ends up showing us its brighter side and I think that is where we expand the most, we end up evolving in consciousness without realizing it.
Have you had a time of great change personally, that ended up working to your advantage over time?
The hard blows of life have been the ones that have made me evolve, such as the death of my grandparents, the separation of my parents, the economic ruin of my family .... but it happened to me since I was a child that I felt inside me that there was something more and I was always in search of my inner evolution, to know the truths of life and to find explanations for things that happened only to me... like seeing things that others don't see, anticipating moments... you know what I mean.
When I found the answers it was my greatest evolution and I am still on that path of inner improvement.
I was fascinated by your post... those human races... were they races? I leave you with the question...
They were a species, and I guess it makes sense they were of a particular race also considering they were from a specific geographical location and each had specific social and physical characteristics not shared by other groups; so yes , I believe they were each of a designated race.
Anyway, I felt if you responded to this post, you'd say something like you have as I know you have gone through a huge transformation. Is there anything you'd change though, anything you feel you'd like to develop and evolve more?
Yes, of course there is more, inner evolution, I know that there is still a need, especially to remove some old family programming that I still have and that I am looking right now to remove, especially with the issue of money.

Population level evolution is fascinating. We go through changes and evolve as we age, but our lineage is infinately exciting. Awesome post.
Thanks for your comment; how do you mean fascinating in reference to population? What aspects of population are fascinating and why?

I agree, it's a pity when that happens, and it happens a lot, but we can only hope they someday learn from that mistake.
