Back to the Past - Music Memories

Not sure what happened ( aside from a lot of things ). So I guess I do actually know but, apparently, 10 days seem to have passed since my last 'diary' of a creative entry ( you gotta love the irony of that username. I sure do ).

While writing this, I am sitting cross-legged on the bed that @clareartista and I have been sharing since a week or three.

For a change, Clare is not positioned next to me but - instead - downstairs or perhaps outside, doing her thing.

It's hard to focus on our individual projects when we are in close proximity of each other ( especially for me ).
She seems to be a bit better at that though and that's okay. Love/a relationship is not a competition.

Right now, I am listening to the first album of The Smile ( a side project of Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood ). I learnt about this band recently, thanks to a good friend of mine who lives in the nearest village.

🎶We don't know what tomorrow brings🎶" ,
sings Thom Yorke, repeatedly, and he's right.

It's one of the biggest clichés but so very true. Still, us humans often tend to be stuck in unhelpful loops of negativity, victim mentality and the like. Or we are worrying about the future or regretting the past.

We sure are funny creatures, with a mind that rocks at making us feel bad. That is, if we're giving in to it and don't know how to manifest our reality/ create our best life possible.

We are powerful creators.

I must say that I am really enjoying the music by The Smile.

It's perfect to write to and it brings me back to the old days ( in a non regrettable way ). The time when I first fell in love with the music of Radiohead. I believe it was in December of 1998, at the age of 17. I was smoking one - or two - of the 200 hundred or so cigarettes that I've smoked in my life ( not enjoying the taste but trying to act and look like a grown up ).

That evening, possibly New Year's eve, the last night of the year, I was sitting on a bed in a room with my twin sister and one of my cousins. The latter, A., played us some Radiohead ( likely the 1993 album Pablo Honey, the band's debut ) and both my sister and I became a big fan afterwards.

In fact, I ended up seeing the band live, thrice, in the early to mid 2000s ), including at a concert where the friend that I mentioned before, who got me to listen to Radiohead's side project 'The Smile' ( that I am listening to right this moment ), apparently was present at too.

Gotta love that 'coincidence'!

Not that I believe much in coincidence, these days, but that's an entirely different story ;<)

Anyhow, this ended up being quite the free write and that feels good.

I was planning to write about my new 'old' (retro) phone but I changed direction instead. More on my phone in an upcoming post, this time sooner than in 10 days, I promise. Possibly even tomorrow...

I hope you're enjoying your day, wherever you are. Remember the words of Thom Yorke ( and many wise (wo)men before and after him):

We don't know what tomorrow brings.

So don't give in to negativity, don't stay stuck in the past or lose yourself in the future and keep manifesting your ideal life.✨❤️
