My very own home page

It's been seven years since I discovered Hive and coming to this Blockchain I didn't know what to expect. It was like the first day in a new school, not knowing who I was or how I would fit in. I lurked, trying to gauge the feel of the place. In those days there were a lot of cool kids, nerds and cute popular girls. I was none of these. Who would I be? I have experienced those other social media platforms and on those, the modus Operandi is to appear as though you have the best life ever and make people jealous of your success and appearance. This wasn't for me. I ain't pretty and my failures are as spectacular as my successes.

After sitting in the background, observing and thinking I formulated what I could make Hive into for me. It would become a record of my life's work to hand down to my son. A bit like a memoir. Being a sculptor of sand, snow and ice all of my work has long since been taken by the wind and rain and I discovered Hive could be the place for it to live on.

This is one of the best things about Hive for me. The idea that it can be your very own place on the internet. A place to call home.

Seven years on and I'm still here. Life has been tough over the last few years but Hive has been a constant. I may not get to write as much as I would like but it is still such a buzz to press publish and see how my work will be received. I am still a bit of a lurker but proud to be from the class of 2024.

Happy hiversary? XD

Sometimes the spectacular failures are just as cool/interesting as the successes.

as long as no one is hurt x_x

My favourite content creators are the ones who show where they mess up. It reminds me that we all do and it is how we get over it that really matters.

Hard agree there. When I started posting progblogs I would try to include mentioning everything including screwups, and when I was editing streams to post I would always mention that I have cut out bits where I was staring at the screen (which happened a lot) and that it was timelapsed (TIMELAPSE absolutely NOT "speedpaint" which is something else entirely >_< sorry pet peeeeeeeeve) and that I don't actually do anything anywhere near that fast XD

I've also noticed more people doing it more as despite there being more resources for beginners there still isn't enough of the beginner experience out there I guess as I remember doing a very short "Blender Adventures" series about a decade ago and seeing similar things cropping up with newer/younger bloggers/artists, some of which were just doing what I was doing and making notes for themselves/just blogging about the experience and some who I guess were struggling to find resources for people coming in from literally nothing and decided to fill that perceived gap.

Either way normalising that (especially initial) struggle and learning curve is good I think, along with showing that even pros error out regularly XD

Wow, Hive truly has been a meaningful space for you to share your journey and art. Finding a place online where you can be yourself and leave a legacy is truly special. I'm a couple months in and I gotta say it's a sweet place here. I'm making very genuine friends here and would be honored to add you to it !WINE

The great thing about Hive is that you can use it for whatever you want. It is yours to form a wrestling community and it is mine to document my work. Owning our account is the best thing about it as there are no gatekeepers. Nice to meet you.

It's a pleasure to meet you man and it's an honor being your from. You're so right brother, everything I put here is mine and this community has really been designed to allow anyone to build anything and own it. It's a wonderful thing and it's true definition of freedom

Hive is practically like that, it is like a book of life, a diary, where you capture your dreams and experiences, and in the end it becomes a time capsule and anyone in the future can see.

greetings.

A time capsule is right. As long as someone keeps the blockchain going the information will still be there for years to come. I left other social media when I thought about the fact that it is up to one individual to silence you and remove all that you were trying to grow. Owning my account is a very important thing. Thanks for your comment

Hive is indeed like a memoir… something you can hand down.
It will tell your story. Much better then any social media.

7 years! Congratulations 🥂 up to many more years…

People seem a lot more real here. I think the permanence of the blockchain makes them a bit more cautious about what they submit.
I have tried many times before to document my work as an artist but always got bored of myself. Here it is nice to get continual feedback to spur me on and I will admit that the reward side is a nice bonus.

Yes, I experience and see it the same way.
Because it is permanent people are more cautious.
Social media as an artist just doesn’t work for me. I never found the energy to keep creating content. So I understand. Even though I had to stop creating as we moved tooooo much, even countries. Hope to set up my studio one time soon.

Here is indeed different, more real.
Enjoy it and let’s create 😊

I'm seven years here myself! We joined within a month of one another. Hard to believe so much time has passed. I used to enjoy the meetups we had in the early days.

The time flew. I only wish that I could be more consistent with my posting as it is good for my head. I miss the meetups, they were my one outing each month to socialise.

If this platform isn’t a good one, you won’t be here for seven good years
I’m sure you must have had a wonderful experience here
I’m glad to be here too and I wish myself many more years

Hive is one of the few places I go anytime I am on the internet. The people are real and we all own our own little piece of it. Roll on another 7 years

Hey there, you just received 2,500 Ecency points from me for this entry. Thanks for being involved and following the guidelines.

Thank you very much. That was a fun little prompt that helped me reminisce about my time here.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I was hoping a few would.
