RE: Skilled Displacement

We are fascinating creatures, dual by nature. On the one hand, we are animals in disguise, dressed up in our routines and behavioural patterns. On the other hand, we are highly adaptive, able to evolve and change according to the surrounding circumstances. This diction is evident in how we handle the uncertainties of the future and our tendency to forget the present.

Forget the worries of a parent in the modern era, when future abilities are uncertain due to rapid technological advances. This concern is expressed as much as our worries about the future, as we sometimes forget the present. The mention of there being a possible superiority of AI in the future and how it might interact with our numbers underlines this point. We are so focused on what is happening that we may not pay enough attention to what we have now.

Certainly, human beings are changing because of our dependence on algorithms and formulas that influence our decisions. This dystopia raises the tension between our disguises and our adaptability, and how it can bring a lack of feeling into our lives, but life is so short that we forget to live it.

My friend @tarazkp, we live in a constant ‘tug of war’ between our habits and our adaptability. As we search for meaning and prepare for an uncertain future, we worry so much that we forget to live in the present. As they say, ‘we must consider what it means to be human in this new context and how we can find meaning in our lives as we navigate these rapid and inevitable changes’.
