The laundromat movie review

in HODL5 years ago

Some time ago on my blog, i have made a post bitcoin things to do during covid19 and among many tasks, I have put there some movies that you should watch.

One of those is The Laundromat.

The largest secret document leak in history, in which more than 100 editorials from around the world were involved, billions of dollars hidden by the world's richest people in tax havens - in his latest film Steven Soderbergh takes the Panama Papers scandal to the workshop. "Laundry", however, is far from the traditional story of a journalistic investigation under the banner of "All President's People" or "Spotlight". Long speak, a digressive tone, hungry humor, and breaking the fourth wall evoke associations with "Big Short" by Adam McKay or "Wolf from Wall Street" by Martin Scorsese.

A large part of the film is devoted to translations of relationships and networks of mutual influences that led to the creation and success of Mossack Fonseca. The themes branch out into a baroque context network, the intrigue extends from the United States through the Caribbean to China. Soderbergh is more interested in the mechanism that drives the activities of this type of company than pointing at the finger guilty of corruption. Mossack and Fonesca are basically just a drop in the sea of problems posed by a leaking US legal system - as we learn from the film, one of the largest tax havens in the world.

Considering the good cast, I was expecting a little more from this film (which is not bad, but had more potential).
