Don’t Let Loyalty Cost You Your Purpose

I have always believed that every human on earth has similarities that are geared towards a common cause, but the issue is that we are not aware of it or let me say the vast majority are not aware of it.

The question that springs to mind anytime I think of my existence is ‘What is my purpose here on earth?’. In this regard, I can boldly say that we are all similar. This is a question that everyone ponders on. I have thought about it alot, read books, studied successful men, and wise philosophers and most notably found two things:

  • Your Life must give reverence to the ONE who is behind all essence of life forces.
  • There is something you possess that you must use to change the world.

For me these two things make up what you call ‘purpose’. For others, the second point is what purpose is to them.

I do believe the first point is far more greater than the second because it entails everything and beyond. But however you think of it, everyone has a feeling that the word ‘purpose’ signifies a call to serve. A call to leave a mark, to make a significant contribution to mankind and this contribution inspires generations and causes revolutionary changes.

Everyone feels the need to be essential. The need to contribute and the need to be part of something greater than ourselves. Living a life that outlives us,is our yearning and rightfully so it is our purpose, your purpose.

However, we are not doing that because we are loyal to ineffectiveness. So the question is:

Is there something in your life that is hindering you from committing to your higher self?

Majority of the time, we know that we can be more and that the world needs us, needs our talent, gift or skill but we feel stuck because we are loyal to situations that are not serving us.

Most importantly, loyalty to loved ones and friends. We all are loyal to one person or the other or rather to something in our lives but this is the thing - It is time for a big change.

I don’t know who and what you are loyal to but if you want to know if it is good for you or not, here’s an indication:

GROWTH:

The famous American actor and rapper Will Smith once said “If you don’t grow then you die”. So I want you to take a good hard look at the people in your life generally that you are loyal to.
Do they support your growth or do they drag you down?

Do you feel good being around them or do you feel “contaminated” by their negativity?

Are they excited about the new you that is emerging or would they prefer the company of the old you that you are outgrowing?

If the latter part to all three questions is true then it is time to consider making some changes.

If your self-improvement and development is a threat to your so-called friends, loved ones, business associates and the likes then you need to leave that circle and you need to do it respectfully. Because if you don’t, you will always fall short of living to your potential which will in turn cause you to fail in the quest of fulfilling your purpose.

Most times, we are not aware that the crowd or the group of people we are loyal to ain’t contributing to bringing out the best version of ourselves not until we begin to experience some form of growth and they begin to show their colors. All of a sudden friends turn to enemies just because you want to be the best version of yourself.

But you must remember this:

IT IS AMAZINGLY EMPOWERING TO HAVE THE SUPPORT OF A STRONG, MOTIVATED, AND INSPIRATIONAL GROUP OF PEOPLE.

Neglecting your purpose means shutting so many people out. Someone once told me “Not until you open the door, so many people will remain locked”.

No matter what, don’t let loyalty cost you your purpose.

SO I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU:

Is there any area of your life where your loyalty is costing you a purposeful life? Leave a comment below. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for your time. I Love ya and always know that:

You have greatness within you.

Sort:

Sometimes, this loyalty is to our parents. They want us to live and act a certain way and sometimes, this can prevent us from living a purposeful life

Yea @sparklinglolly You're right. Very right. But one thing I always say to myself is "You guys won't be here with me forever so if I don't go against your wishes and do that which is right for me, when will I do that". Having this inner dialogue within me gives me the fortitude to try things even though it is not right with so many persons..

That’s the best thing to do
