Ecency has live curators for boosting posts. This means that each post which is boosted with Ecency points is checked by curators. Sometimes, if curators don't like the post (or if post doesn't fit the criteria, ie. minimum 50 words and an image, or more than two days old, ...etc) the boost is ignored and the points returned.
