My county's flag is Green, White, Green. I'm a Nigerian so I'll be talking about my county's flag 🇳🇬 and what it means to "some" of us. The Nigerian flag is known for its simplicity and beauty, it is a national symbol that represents sovereignty and authority of Nigeria as a state. The flag was designed in 1959 by Michael Taiwo Akinwunmi but was made official on October 1st 1960 (Nigeria's independence). The green in our flag represents the Natural wealth (as we are one of the richest countries in Africa based on natural resources) and the white represents peace (that we barely have).
Now this is where my topic really starts.
Ps: this post contains bloody images that may not be okay with certain people. Also, not everyone would agree with this and that's why I used "some" in the first paragraph.
While we continue using the official National flag, We have a new flag, a flag known by Nigerians from the 20th of October 2020, a flag that has deep stories, a flag that bears the blood and sweat of the county's youths, a flag that has bitter tales of the youths that raised the green, white, green flag in the morning but by night, a new color was added.

A flag that tells the tales of our heroes lost, this flag will forever remind parents of the children they lost during that period, it'll remind husbands of their wives and wives of their husbands, it'll remind their children of the price their parents paid for them to live freely. The blood of youths protesting peacefully for a peaceful and better country, protesting against the harsh and unchecked treatments meted on them by the special anti-robbery squad (SARS, an arm of the police), their blood was spilled on the same flag they raised in hope, hope for a better country.

Lives were lost, lives of the so called "leaders of tomorrow", there's a song I sang in primary school, you can sing along if you know it...
Parents listen to your children
We are the leaders of tomorrow
Try and pay our school fees and give us a sound education
(Education)
The parents did their duty, by sponsoring the children's education but the government forgot about it's duty to citizens, the duty of protecting and preserving lives.

Today we live with the scar, we are Nigerians and we are strong 💪🏽. To everyone that lost family or friends, my deepest condolences 🙌🏾.
This is what comes to my mind whenever I think of my country's flag 🇳🇬.

Natural wealth and Peace as symbols in the colors of your flag.
I am a little bit speachless, this is such a great post to our topic.
This is not so long ago, all those young people had to die :-(
I really hope, that the GREEN and WHITE will win and that your country gets all the wealth, peace, education and love it well deserves
