Resulta que hoy estuve revisando las estadísticas de mi cuenta de #Hive y recibí una muy grata sorpresa.

¡En el lapso de un mes he ganado 100 HP!

Esto es todo un hito para mí, por eso lo considero causa de celebración. Así que me puse a reflexionar sobre el tema y acá están algunas opiniones.

Constancia y confianza

Pero, mejor regresar al principio.

Como he contado otras veces mi presencia en esta red cuenta ya casi 3 años, ese tiempo ha sido un período de apredizaje y crecimiento, pero no puedo decir que ninguno de los dos haya sido contínuo. Las razones son muchas y la responsabilidad casi en su totalidad cae de mi lado de la cancha.

Por variadas razones, laborales, personales y de motivación, mi participación en la red ha sido muy poco constante. Y eso en esta red tiene consecuencias directas y cuantificables.

Un detalle que me tomó un tiempo aprender, y algo más de tiempo aceptar es que #hive , si bien premia calidad, no garantiza que las publicaciones de calidad sean recompensadas (y mucho menos, bien recompensadas). Esto parece un oximoron, pero no lo es.

Explico, el sistema de recompensas de #hive garantiza que las publicaciones que se recompensen tengan calidad (entendido como lo que la comunidad en conjunto considera un contenido de calidad, más allá de que estemos personalmente de acuerdo con él o no), el sistema de recompensas NO garantiza que una publicación de calidad sea recompensada. Y esta es una noción importante, porque impacta directamente en nuestra autopercepción.

Ocurre que si sabemos que el sistema recompensa publicaciones de calidad, es muy facil asumir que si no estamos siendo recompensados es porque no estamos produciendo contenido de calidad. Si se une esto a que generalmnte ponemos esfuerzo y dedicación a nuestras publicaciones. Pues entonces se unen dos nociones que pueden llevar con mucha facilidad al desaliento.

1. No produzco contenido de calidad y por eso no soy recompensado.

2. No importa cuanto esfuerzo le ponga, no lo voy a lograr

Entrar a este camino nos puede llevar fácilmente a desistir y buscar otras opciones.

Pero hay un tercer factor que al menos yo no tuve en cuenta hasta hace muy poco y que cambia completemente la percepción del asunto, y es que el sistema de recompensas al ser un sistema comunitario solo recompensa los contenidos de calidad que tienen alcance o extención dentro de la comunidad. Por tanto, podemos destinar mucho tiempo y esfuerzo en crear contenido de calidad, que si ese contenido no llega al feed de muchas personas de la comunidad no será recompensado. En conclusiones, que si tu contenido es recompensado significa que al menos parte de la comunidad lo consumió y lo consideró de calidad, pero si tu contenido no está siendo recompensado, puede ser por falta de calidad, o porque no está siendo consumido.

Y creo que es posiblemente porque no está siendo consumido.

Lo que me lleva a otro punto.

Ambiente constructivo

Uno de los grandes valores que yo encuentro a la comunidad de Hive es que NO es tóxica, la tendencia general de las interacciones es constructiva y positiva. Por tanto, si tu contenido está siendo consumido pero es de baja calidad es muy posible que recibas retroalimentación en forma de consejos o sugerencias para mejorar tu contenido en los comentarios. Si este no es tu caso, entonces posiblemente el problema no sea de calidad, sino de alcance.

La interacción como un activo

No importa cuanto tiempo lleves en Hive, lanzar tus publicaciones a la blockchain y esperar que sean recompensadas así, no más porque son contenidos de alta calidad no es una buena estrategia. Una publicación de @stefano.massari que leí recientemente lo resume muy bien, una de las principales cosas que buscamos cuando entramos a hive son las nuevas publicaciones de personas a las que seguimos. Pero la conclusión es sencilla, es necesario que la comunidad te conozca si esperas que te den su voto, y para lograr eso es necesario interactuar, leer las publicaciones de los demás, comentar, curar y hacerlo con calidad. No se trata de votar nada más, eso lo puedes hacer como parte de un trail y no conocer para nada la publicación, se trata de consumir contenidos que te interesen y dar retroalimentaciones de calidad y positivas. Así como tu estás esperando que te curen y te lean y te retroalimenten, ellos también. Sé parte activa de la comunidad, eso de seguro provocará que comiences a ver mejorías en tus recompensas.

Mi historia reciente y el valor de la comunidad

Vengo de un período de inactividad (actividad mínima) de casi un año, por razones laborales principalmente. Ese fue un período en el que el crecimiento de mi cuenta fue mínimo, como es de esperar, por falta de actividad. Sin embargo, la recuperación fue menos trabajosa gracias a qué, en periódos anteriores, logré conectar con tres comunidades que han sido un gran apoyo para mí en Hive y que no puedo dejar de mencionar acá. Las comunidades de @hive-185582 (Hive Pizza), @hive-192162 (Mundo Virtual) y @hive-10053 (Hive Cuba) que han facilitado mucho mi regreso y me recibieron como si nunca hubiera faltado.

Casi todo lo que les comenté arriba lo he aprendido en los últimos dos meses. Algunas por experiencia personal, otra gracias a las publicaciones de opinión de @fermionico, si han leído algunas encontrarán no pocos puntos de contacto con lo que recién les comenté. Y si no lo han hecho pasén por su perfil y encontrarán varios post que encuentro educativos y orientadores.

El crecimiento

Gracias precisamente a una de las publicaciones de @fermionico decidí cambiar completemante la manera en la que venía interactuando con Hive, así que decidí ponerme como meta incrementar todo lo posible mi HP, pasé todo lo que pude de mi cuenta a HP, comencé a probar diferentes estrategias de curación, tratar de acceder a iniciativas que delegan HP y muy importante mantener un perfil más activo e interactivo en la red. Una vez tomada la decisión @ecency fue vital. Por varias raones.

La aplicación de movil facilita mucho el proceso de mantenerse activo e interactuando y hace más cencillo el proceso de curación y comentar. Partícular efecto tiene waves, ayuda a mantenerse en contacto e interactuando con la comunidad. Otro elemento a considerar es el nuevo editor de texto que facilita mucho el proceso de publicación para los que somos nuevos en el lenguaje markdown (et alter). Y como si esto fuera poco el sistema de recompensas con puntos es un incentivo adicional sin lugar a dudas.

De manera que este conjunto de condiciones se conjugaron para que yo lograra mantener cierto nivel de interaccion durante los últimos 22 días que me ha granjeado un feliz incremento de HP.

Como pueden ver desde el 24 de junio a la fecha ha existido un incremento de aproximandamente 70 HP, la totalidad de los cuales han sido resultado del trabajo en la red, de estos hay un total de 10 HP que se registran como power up, pero estos provienen de la conversión del HBD recibido y que he estado dosificando como parte de mi participación en el #HPUM.

El desglose completo de lo ganado va así, 58.71 HP recibido como recompensa de autor, 4.32 HP recibidos como recompensa de curación, 16.26 Hive recibidos como resultado de la conversión de HBD a Hive y 1.9 recibidos desde Comment Rewarder. Estos totalizan 81.19 Hive/HP, de los cuales 70 y algo son ya HP efectivo, y 10.59 Hive que mantengo líquidos en mi cuenta para completar el #HPUM. El deglose por cierto lo obtuve de Hive Earnings una herramienta creada por @borniet que si quieres darle seguimiento a tu cuenta encontrarás muy interesante e informativa.

Pero bueno @gornat dijiste que eran 100 HP, y solo has mencionado 81. ¿que pasa con la diferencia?

Pero también dije que era en el lapso de un mes y del 24 de junio a la fecha hay solo 23 días.

De acuerdo con HiveStats tengo pendientes unos 22.41 HP de recompensas por ser acreditados durante los próximos 7 dias, 22 + 7 = 29 días y 81.19 + 22.41 = 103.60 HP, misterio resuelto, son 100 HP. Si estoy adelantandome un poco a los acontecimientos, los 22 HP pendientes aún no son míos, pueden pasar dos cosas, o bien alguien decide hacerme DownVote, pero hasta el momento eso nunca me ha pasado y prometo portarme bien, así que no lo hagan por favor 😁. As I have mentioned before, I have been part of this network for almost three years now. That time has been a period of learning and growth, but I cannot say that either has been continuous. There are many reasons for this, and the responsibility lies almost entirely on my side of the court.

For various reasons—work, personal, and motivation—my participation in the network has been very inconsistent. And that has direct and quantifiable consequences in this network.

One thing that took me a while to learn, and even longer to accept, is that #hive, while it rewards quality, does not guarantee that quality posts will be rewarded (let alone well rewarded). This seems like an oxymoron, but it's not.

Let me explain: the #hive reward system guarantees that the posts that are rewarded are of high quality (understood as what the community as a whole considers to be quality content, regardless of whether we personally agree with it or not), but the reward system does NOT guarantee that a quality post will be rewarded. And this is an important notion, because it directly impacts our self-perception.

It happens that if the system rewards quality posts, it is very easy to assume that if we are not being rewarded, it is because we are not producing quality content. If we add to this the fact that we generally put effort and dedication into our posts, then two notions come together that can very easily lead to discouragement.

1. I don't produce quality content, and that's why I'm not rewarded.

2. No matter how much effort I put in, I'm not going to succeed.

Going down this path can easily lead us to give up and look for other options.

But there is a third factor that, at least for me, I didn't take into account until very recently, and it completely changes the perception of the issue. The reward system, being a community system, only rewards quality content that has reach or extension within the community. Therefore, we can spend a lot of time and effort creating quality content, but if that content does not reach the feed of many people in the community, it will not be rewarded. In conclusion, if your content is rewarded, it means that at least part of the community consumed it and considered it to be of high quality, but if your content is not being rewarded, it may be due to a lack of quality, or because it is not being consumed.

In fact, I would say that it is probably because it is not being consumed, which brings me to another point.

Constructive environment

One of the great values I find in the Hive community is that it is NOT toxic; the general trend of interactions is constructive and positive. Therefore, if your content is being consumed but is of low quality, you are very likely to receive feedback in the form of advice or suggestions to improve your content in the comments. If this is not the case, then the problem is possibly not one of quality, but of reach.

Interaction as an asset

No matter how long you've been on Hive, posting your content to the blockchain and expecting to be rewarded just because it's high-quality content is not a good strategy. A post by @stefano.massari that I read recently sums it up very well: one of the main things we look for when we enter Hive is new posts from people we follow. But the conclusion is simple: the community needs to know you, if you expect them to vote for you, and to achieve that, you need to interact, read other people's posts, comment, curate, and do so with quality. It's not just about voting; you can do that as part of a trail without knowing anything about the post. It's about consuming content that interests you and giving quality, positive feedback. Just as you are waiting for them to curate, read, and give you feedback, so are they. Be an active part of the community, and you will surely start to see improvements in your rewards.

My recent history and the value of the community

I'm coming off a period of inactivity (minimal activity) of almost a year, mainly for work reasons. That was a period in which my account's growth was minimal, as expected, due to lack of activity. However, the recovery was less difficult thanks to the fact that in previous periods I managed to connect with three communities that have been a great support to me on Hive and that I can't help but mention here. The communities of @hive-185582 (Hive Pizza), @hive-192162 (Mundo Virtual), and @hive-10053 (Hive Cuba) have made my return much easier and welcomed me back as if I had never been away. Almost everything I mentioned above I have learned in the last two months. Some through personal experience, others thanks to the opinion posts by @fermionico. Growth

Thanks to one of @fermionico's posts, I decided to completely change the way I was interacting with Hive , so I decided to set myself the goal of increasing my HP as much as possible, I transferred as much as I could from my account to HP, started trying out different curation strategies, tried to access initiatives that delegate HP, and, very importantly, maintained a more active and interactive profile on the network. Once the decision was made, @ecency was vital. For several reasons.

The mobile app makes it much easier to stay active and interact, and simplifies the curation and commenting process. Waves is particularly effective, helping you stay in touch and interact with the community. Another element to consider is the new text editor, which greatly facilitates the publishing process for those of us who are new to markdown language (et alter). And as if that weren't enough, the points-based reward system is undoubtedly an additional incentive.

So, this set of conditions came together to enable me to maintain a certain level of interaction over the last 22 days, which has earned me a welcome increase in HP.

As you can see, from June 24 to date, there has been an increase of approximately 70 HP, all of which has been the result of work on the network. Of these, a total of 10 HP are recorded as power ups, but these come from the conversion of the HBD received, which I have been dosing as part of my participation in #HPUM.
