What a pleasant morning it was today ,after spending little time at home, i decided to take a walk towards calabar itu high way, brothers and friends guess what i see? A beautiful plant,and i wanted to know what was the actual functions of this beautiful plant and is name , before i talk more on the plant let's take a look at it.

The plant is Raphia palm, likely from the genus Raphia, specifically Raphia hookeri or Raphia vinifera. It's a tropical palm native to Africa and known for its large, fan-like leaves.
It Names are :
Raffia palm
Raphia hookeri (in Nigeria)
Bamboo palm (mistakenly sometimes)
"Ukpo" or "Okwuma" in some Nigerian dialects.
Uses and Functions of Raphia Palm:
- Raffia Fiber Production
Extracted from the leaf sheaths.
Used for weaving baskets, mats, hats, ropes, and traditional decorations.
- Roofing and Thatching
Leaves are used for thatching roofs of rural houses and huts.
- Palm Wine Source
