Think you don’t have to Smile behind a mask

in Writers Inc5 years ago

Everyone can see the frown on your face even behind a mask. Luckily there are only a few people thinking they can hide those frown or mean faces behind their mask.

The corona virus is cheating people out of there friendly smiles, greetings and handshakes. This great park below has been partially open now for two weeks. I am happy to say that many people are using the parks. But something very important has changed. Many people are wearing masks as they walk and run alone the designated walking trails.

It appears to be a big misunderstanding about the masks, at least from my point of view. A person running or walking briskly alone does not need a mask from my point of view. However some people with mask will still wave or smile as they pass. And believe it or not you can see the smile in the person eyes or hear it in their voice even if a person is wearing a mask.

Today many or most people are listening to music or having a phone conversation as they walk or run. But many can still flash a smile with their eyes or a nod with their head as they quickly pass each other. I don’t think it’s anything wrong with wearing a mask as directed by your local government especially if you think you need one. However if you think everyone should be wearing a mask and you feel contempt for them not, don’t think for one minute that you can hide that contempt behind your mask. You are only cheating yourself out of the returns smiles and greetings.

It’s suddenly alright to be focus on your music, conversation or thoughts but go ahead and flash that eye smile when you can.

I am always smiling mask or no mask.:)

I would really love to send you a tip for this post, because you are so right about many things- the misunderstanding of the masks and the ease of which/or the excuse not to smile and I agree, you can still definitely hear and see a smile even if it is covered by a mask!

I'm not sure about the whole tipping process yet, so I'm going to reblog and mention you in my post.

I hope that that helps a bit as you deserve some recognition for this post and your insights. 😀

Thank you @chocolatescorpi for this great reply and reading and liking my post.

Whether someone walks or runs by I'd always say hello. But now wearing a mask I feel I need to add a wave and make eye contact. I'm sure a lot of people think I'm nuts but none the less it's an important part of our lives to connect with others... which brings me to 'Black Lives Matter'. I'm a strong supporter but I feel I'm not doing enough. Oh, I participate in walks where I can and urge my MP of the need to combat racism but those actions seem far off to me. I wanted to do something at the personal level - one on one - as I pass someone of colour on the street. Something that will tell them I'm with them and I love them - so I place my hand over my heart and say hello as I pass by. It means something so much to me. For what it's worth! Brian. If you're of a mind to please consider joining me in the 'filmmaking' community . Thanks.

Thank you for replying @brian-rhodes, I don’t wear a mask when I walking alone on the trail. I also feel the need to make eye contact, nod or wave when possible. I will certain take a look at the filmmaking community.

Hi there Brian, as an emerging filmmaker, I would love to join you in the filmmaking community- if I haven't already! 😀

This is me

See you very soon!

And by the way, I love the hand on the heart. A small, but such a significant gesture- especially when we can't get up close and personal to speak our hearts.
