I'm happy to say that I haven't done it yet. The tree will stand there in its full regalia until 2 February, just as the custom says :)

It's Candlemas, the Feast of Presentation, in the Roman Catholic Church. People in some countries remove Christmas decorations on that day because it celebrates the last event in the Bible which mentions the infancy of Jesus (just my guess it's the real reason, don't quote me).
I've learned something new today, I had no idea about this.
