We'll never have films like that again. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but it's a remarkable achievement with practical effects, realistic costumes and props, and real landscapes. Now the digital world has replaced practical effects almost completely. It's sad.
Thinking about it, you're right. It's a shame that we might not see movies like these anymore. Back then it was so innovative and it really changed the way we watch movies.
I re-watched this trilogy several times. As a fantasy, it's perfection.
