Pulled my first celery of the year for eating, they take so long to grow and are kind of thin but very tasty!
Wow I didn’t know you do gardening! Nice to know 😊 I learned to grow celery some years ago from a post on Hive and since then I have it every year even in my small balcony. If you harvest it from the outer leaves, you can enjoy it through winter. Enjoy the intense taste!

Honestly i may be willing to trade First aid kit for fishing pole... but i'd need to know how much line and how many fishing hooks. Also depends on how many matches in the match box.
What's nice about the boat and tent is a quantity of one is sufficient.
Hmm, I think an axe is important. If you have an axe, you can build a shelter, and repair stuff. The tent will be soon or later gone after a strong storm, but with the axe you can build smth. new.
you can build a habitation but i doubt anything good enough to protect from insects or rodents AND you need something right away. Axe is a great one. And maybe i'd consider it over first aid kit. You can't live in fear of something breaking... the axe can break.

I would add the axe (more versatile than a knive for e.g. creating shelter),
the rope (also versatile for storing food in a tree, for construction of tools, etc.) and the first aid kit (for obvious reasons).

Walking barefoot on an island that you don't know is risky. Cut your feet badly and you won't be able to walk properly anymore. It will slow you down.

From what I've seen on Hive (the photography) the coast is similar in Oregon, all the way up to Alaska, really. I've never been to Oregon (or Alaska).

Ubisoft has launched an NFT game called Champions Tactics. Will it succeed? Will it work?
They'll start switching the narrative around now to make nfts popular again, market how you can trade them cheaply compared to using Steam. But you'll never get ownership in the games or ecosystems.
I think it's fine if they just want to do NFTs and a proper marketplace. Usually ownership in the game or ecosystem comes with a token and some sort of financial support to the team.
Game studios should be free to decide if they want to go that way or not.
For sure, it's a good start to see the stigma around nfts change with games like off the grid lately. My point is all of these are funded through big money investors that'll look to maximize profit as has been the norm in gaming lately.
I don't believe very much in these old maids' ventures either. It looks like we'll always encounter unpleasant surprises along the way and, as you said, I very much doubt that the assets are 100% ours.
They can be yours, I don't doubt they'll make them fake nfts, my point is it'll only be bread crumbs of the real value. All revenue they get for the actual game goes to founders, VC's, etc, players will just get money from other players.

Ubisoft has gone from respectable developer to stitshow. There is no way their NFTs will be sustainable IMHO, but I hope it does well enough to encourage more experimentation with the idea.
People have been complaining about ubi games for a long time, I myself haven't played any of them for a long time, now this idea with the NFTs, let's see how it goes, at least it will spread a bit more about web3 in games.

I tried out Age of Empires mobile.
It's very mobile-gamey, filled with in-your-face micro-transactions upsells and pay-to-win.
The historical character heroes are fun.
I think it scratches an itch if you're bored with time to kill. Lacks depth, I will stop in a few days.
Never played a lot on mobile. But I 100% stopped once I got my steam deck :)
I have heard good things about Steam Deck, but hadn't considered buying one. I have many Windows-only games, but I'm not eager to sit at the desk for long periods.
There is a good chance a bunch of those games work well on the Steam Deck. Depending on the type of game the controller can be a good fit or not, but many Windows games just work out of the box
