Can a decentralized social network demand to publish photos of yourself? 😠 I find it terrible and embarrassing 🤐
Please tell me what you think about this situation that happened to my boyfriend, a new user, @ghilvar

I understand the frustration, but the network does not require publishing photos of him; individual people did. 😊

Thank you very much for the kind answer. Yes it's true, but I think that if someone decides to manage a community it is also because you appreciates the exchange of thoughts and inclusion. If we treat new users like this, then we can't complain that onboarding is slow...
Anyway, it doesn't matter, we keep going on 😊

I've never shown my face here on Hive.

Certain communities demand it, and I simply don't participate in them.

Yes it's true. I totally agree with you and I also do that!
The strange thing is that this rule isn't reported in the general rules of the community...

Well, there are others then :) you (or anybody else) can create new ones with different rules, and if the will be better managed, they can eventually prevail over those mismanaged:)

Of course! Thanks for the support and the smart suggestion 😊

Being doxxed here in Hive is a personal choice and not to be imposed.

I heard that some communities encourage their subscribers to show their face. their community their rules.

It’s the users’ choice not to subscribe.

I totally agree, and of course I prefer other kind of communities. But you can understand that if this rule isn't reported among the general rules of the community, it's not very polite. Thank you for your comment :)

Sadly, I believe there could've been a better approach to what happened to your BF. Especially since he seems to be a legit user, and as he claimed and proved, the post was original.

I think this situation could've been resolved better if there had been proper communication.

Yes, it's true. He decided to write that post to raise awareness of the situation, and not simply let the bad experience be forgotten without learning anything. However it doesn't matter, we keep going on 😊🙌
