Well, if I downvote you will my full voting power, you lose almost a dollar of your reward. Or, in other way, this dollar is distributed among other upvoted authors, it doesn't stay in the reward pool.
If there's a shitpost of like two sentences only with $100 payout, I'd say downvoting it is fair. It shouldn't get the upvotes in the first place, though - If people paid their due diligence to upvoting, there would likely be less place for downvoting.
I don't complain when my post drop few dollars, and still generate like 80. I'd be pissed if somebody shot down a post I spent few hours with to $3 though :)
