Hello, dear ladies of hive.
This is my first publocation in this community, and today, i would be answering the question:
1 When did you last laugh so hard you cried
or your tummy ached? What was it about?
I recently moved up north. School made me go this far, moving from the south to the north and having to sit for over twenty-four hours during the journey.
I gained admission this year to study at a prestigious school in my country, Nigeria. If the only reason I was taking this step and going this far was just to study, maybe I wouldn't have accepted to go. But because of sports, -i play volleyball, by the way- and my passion for the game, which isn't taken seriously in this region, but in the north, I decided to move.
The day I was to embark on the trip to start school, my parents and big brother accompanied me to the bus park. It was so early in the morning, and not even 6 am yet.
After I had checked in my bag, I went to stand by my family and just say my goodbye. While my parents were advising and praying for me, my brother cut in and said, "Find one hausa(northern) man that you will marry that will give us cow o."
It was so hilarious and so unexpected, and we all burst into intense laughter. As I laughed with them, I looked at all their faces, and I immediately began to miss them. It dawned on me that I would have to begin and live a life very far from the people that I have lived with my entire life. I would only hear their voice and be able to go back home for very concrete reasons and during the long break. Otherwise, i can't make that over 24-hour trip by road. I realised then that i was on my own. And then I started to cry.
I wanted to not cry. I didn't want to spoil that moment and make my mum sad, but I couldn't help it. The tears let themselves out, and I found myself enclosed in a tight embrace in my mum's arms while she held on to me and cried too and prayed for me. It was very emotional for us.
I'm surprised that even as i write this, i still feel a tightening in my stomach and sting in my throat. I've been here for about two weeks, and i miss home terribly. But it is what it is.

Being away from your family can be difficult especially when it is your first time. That's a price to pay when we want to pursue something, we have to leave our comfort zones. The good thing is that you can see them virtually and on the long breaks :)
It's very, very difficult. Before I left home, I thought I wouldn't feel so terrible since I'm a grown-up. Lol. I miss them even more every day. But I NEED to be here. And it's best that I left my comfort zone. It will do me so much good in the long run.
