[ESP-ENG] Concurso LOH #113; gratitud y unión familiar

En esta oportunidad @ladysofhive en su concurso semanal habitual me puso a pensar exhaustivamente en sus dos interrogantes propuestas; así que después de hacer mucha memoria, recordar y hasta ponerme sentimental decidí responder ambas:

1.-¿Qué piensas hacer el 31 justo a la medianoche?

Creo que para que puedan entender debo remontar mi memoria muy lejos en el pasado, mejor dicho volver a mi niñez. Recuerdo tanto la insistencia de mi abuela en que era necesario cada 31 de diciembre faltando 20 minutos para las 12am (era casi que el onceavo mandamiento), estar sentados todos en familia en la sala de la casa, hacer el rosario de la misericordia y tomados de las manos hacer las oraciones que todo buen católico conoce (padre nuestro, ave maria, credo…).

Asi que 5 minutos antes de que "reventara el año" siemore toma la palabra algún miembro de la familia para agradecer por lo bueno y malo que pudo haber pasado y la familia y como buenos venezolanos ¡hacer borrón y cuenta nueva!. Solo con esto se despertaba un aura de paz y union que es difícil de explicar, creo que todo eso me hace recordar lo más tierno y puro de mi niñez, la de mis hermanas y primos que siempre sentimos nuestra la navidad solo por el hecho de poder estar todos juntos (ya que eso pasaba solo una vez al año).

Ahora bien, ya les quedó claro que la espiritualidad en estas fechas es algo que tengo muy tatuado a lo largo de mi vida, pero sobre todo la unión familiar, dar gracias es algo que he ido incorporando al tiempo que siento que todo en la vida tiene una fuerte conexión con que "lo que damos al universo vuelve a nosotros en algún momento", sea malo o bueno, eso es lo que recibimos.

Así que claramente el 31 de diciembre a medianoche me dispongo a abrazar a mi hija y esposo, unirnos en una abrazo de amor y gratitud por estar juntos en un nuevo año que comienza, declaro y visualizo en mi mente que todo lo bueno del universo me abrigara en este nuevo año, pero sobre todo doy gracias infinitas a Dios por tener lo que tengo, por el don de la vida y el amor.

También suelo conmoverme hasta las lágrimas por no tener a mi lado a mi familia desde hace 4 laaaargooos años. Aunque siempre existe esa esperanza de volver a verlos que como luz intermitente palpita en mi corazón desde entonces.

2.-¿Qué planes tienes para el 1 de enero?

Generalmente tengo gratos recuerdos de 1 de enero a lo largo de mi vida en Venezuela; familia reunida y amanecida con su respectivo "ratón o rasca" jajaja, sancocho y parrilla, mucho pero mucho papelón con limón en un termo en el patio, hamacas en todos lados y muchos niños jugando con tierra a sus anchas, ¿hermoso no?.

Y aunque todo cambia con el tiempo en este momento de mi vida y por la zona donde estoy esto no aplica. Si claro está que no recibo el año en la "nevera" donde vivo solemos ir a un hermoso pueblito de tierra caliente donde vive mi suegra, generalmente comemos tamales y salimos a caminar un rato al pueblo, ya que casualmente 1 de enero cae domingo de seguro iremos a la primera misa del año a agradecer a Dios por tanto.

Planes más elaborados hace rato no he tenido, creo que este año haré una rica natillas, buñuelos y ayudare a mi suegra con el respectivo sancocho, ensalada fría y pavo con salsa de ciruela. Es normal que todo gire en torno a la comida cuando no hay nada más que hacer jajaja.

Solo espero que esta navidad donde mi hija esta más grandecita, esta despertando la lengua (jajaja) y la curiosidad de seguro disfrutara mucho más en compañía de sus primas y demás familiares.

This time @ladysofhive in her usual weekly contest got me to think exhaustively about her two proposed questions; so after doing a lot of remembering, reminiscing and even getting sentimental I decided to answer both of them:

**1.-What are you planning to do on the 1st right at midnight?

I think that in order for you to understand I must go back in my memory far into the past, or rather back to my childhood. I remember so much my grandmother's insistence that it was necessary every December 31st at 20 minutes to 12am (it was almost the eleventh commandment), to be seated all as a family in the living room of the house, to make the rosary of mercy and holding hands to make the prayers that every good Catholic knows (Our Father, Hail Mary, Creed ...).

So 5 minutes before "the year burst" always takes the floor a member of the family to give thanks for the good and bad that may have happened and the family and as good Venezuelans, make a clean slate! This alone awakened an aura of peace and union that is difficult to explain, I think that all this makes me remember the most tender and pure of my childhood, that of my sisters and cousins who always felt Christmas as ours just for the fact of being able to be all together (since that happened only once a year).

Now, it is clear that spirituality on these dates is something that I have very tattooed throughout my life, but especially family togetherness, giving thanks is something that I have been incorporating while I feel that everything in life has a strong connection with "what we give to the universe comes back to us at some point", whether bad or good, that is what we receive.

So clearly on December 31st at midnight I get ready to embrace my daughter and husband, join in an embrace of love and gratitude for being together in a new year that begins, I declare and visualize in my mind that all the good from the universe will embrace me in this new year, but above all I give infinite thanks to God for having what I have, for the gift of life and love.

I am also often moved to tears for not having my family by my side for the last 4 laaaaroooong years. Although there is always that hope of seeing them again that like an intermittent light beats in my heart since then.

2.-What are your plans for January 1st?

Generally I have fond memories of January 1st throughout my life in Venezuela; family reunited and dawn with their respective "mouse or scratch" hahaha, sancocho and barbecue, lots and lots of papelón with lemon in a thermos in the yard, hammocks everywhere and many children playing with dirt at their leisure, beautiful, isn't it?

And although everything changes with time, at this moment of my life and for the area where I am, this does not apply. If of course I don't receive the year in the "fridge" where I live we usually go to a beautiful little town in tierra caliente where my mother-in-law lives, we usually eat tamales and go for a walk around town, since January 1st happens to fall on Sunday we will surely go to the first mass of the year to thank God for so much.

More elaborate plans I haven't had for a while, I think this year I will make a delicious custard, fritters and help my mother-in-law with the respective sancocho, cold salad and turkey with plum sauce. It is normal that everything revolves around food when there is nothing else to do hahaha.

I just hope that this Christmas, where my daughter is older, is awakening her tongue (hahaha) and curiosity, she will surely enjoy much more in the company of her cousins and other family members.
