I like geometrical patterns in weaving, but I have a thing especially with triangles!
It's not at all that I don't like the freedom of abstract designs, but everything needs the right timing and what works for me now, is just to make triangles. They are simple, balanced and stable.
They look like arrows showing me routes.
That's why I started in the first place to weave these bookmarks.
When you read a book, either for the joy of literature or for the joy of knowledge itself, small or big transformations take place in your mind and life. Routes might start taking shape. New paths.
Whether you go straight forward or you feel you want to go back, whether you aim for the sky or you need to go down to the heart of Mother Earth, whether you want to wonder around or to look deep inside, there is no right or wrong. You just walk the path you choose to walk.
The main yarn is jute. The triangles in the photos are made by natural cotton.
The result is earthy and simple.
The procedure is slow, more like a meditation than a work. Repeated moves again and again. But at the same time you need to stay focused counting, one line, two lines, three lines. The mind clears from thoughts, and if not, a few minutes later the visual effect of the miscount pops up, you un-weave as much as needed and remind to yourself to come back to earth :)
In the fist photo below you can see the simplest way to wrap the yarn so that you can pass it from the one side to the other easily. For someone who has done some weaving this is basic, but for a beginner this is a trick that opens doors, a way to give you some good flow while working.
When I have to do more than one weft, then it's the turning point for me, it's when the pleasure becomes a job and there is a thin line I try not to cross. I can't weave more than two or three of them per day.
I usually never do the same thing more than once, but that was a special occasion...
My loyal guard is always by my side, although he is not happy at all, it's late at night and all he can think of is an extra walk since I am awake.
Seeing the third photo I wonder if I see anything anymore, haha! My eyes are so tired, but I look happy!
It's quite obvious that I like triangles if you look at the wall hanging behind me. The weaving of this one had been beautifully captured and shown here. And I can't resist in bringing some color to this post!
Thanks to @fotostef part of the procedure of this project was also captured.
All photos were taken by @fotostef, but don't blame him for the editing, that's mine :)
I love these. It's been so long since I done any weaving, I have some hemp that I have been meaning to weave with and bookmarks would be wonderful. Thank you for the inspiration and the reminder of how meditative it really is xxxx
You are weaving? That's great! I love hemp, I hope to see some bookmarks from you sometime ;)
It is so grounding, especially when you work with natural material, the feeling of the wool is one of my favorite...
Thank you for your support and the reblogging :)

It was strangely satisfying to watch you doing this! I also loved the stream of thoughts you had.
That's cool, thank you! I take it as a big compliment as I understand that you have no interest at all in weaving, haha! Glad you opened the post in first place and glad we could share a feeling!
My pleasure! CHeers!

Thank you :)
I admire your ability to weave these bookmarks and obviously other items as well. I am finding so many things I would like to try (and you've piqued my interest here), but time is the dilemma! Thank you for sharing your lovely work. Take care!
Oh, that's great! I'll share some more and we'll see if I can tempt you :)
Time is always an issue, but believe me it is such a relaxing process, a beautiful way to slow down in a highly demanding everyday life. It is from another era for sure :)
Thank you so much for your support!
You are welcome! Thank you!💜🤗
Love this post! You showed the process and the pictures are beautifully taken and arranged. We get to see your smiling face!
Thanks Sara! When it comes to weaving I always find the process so interesting to share :) Glad you liked it!!!
