Sleeping is one of the most important things we do during our day. During these hours of sleep the body recharges energy and regenerates.
Our miraculous body needs, depending on our age, between 7 to 10 hours of sleep. During this period it enters into a healing process, if I can call it that, in which it performs the following activities:
- Muscles relax and the body decreases alertness. Stress levels disappear.
- Body temperature drops, so the body cools down and the heart rests.
- Growth hormone, responsible for muscle and bone repair, is produced.
- In the REM sleep phase, the brain is more active. In this phase, the brain consolidates what it has learned and the information is recorded in memory.
- The eyes move very fast and in all directions, cleaning the eye of particles, bacteria, etc., which is why we wake up with eye discharge.
- Cells recover nutrients lost during the day and neurotransmitters in the brain are repaired.
- The immune system has more power of action fighting diseases and infections. Now I realize why when I am in bodily discomfort I sleep so much, it is my body healing.
- Skin cells regenerate and the aging process slows down, improving the appearance of our complexion. Have you ever wondered why when you wake up, if you've had a good night's sleep, your skin looks smooth, soft, glowing, here's the answer.

If while we sleep, we wake up continuously, we are interrupting the natural course of our body in its relaxation, repair and learning, in addition to having the next day body discomfort due to lack of sleep.
That said, for me going to bed is a ritual, I am fully aware of the importance of giving my body a few hours of sleep, all this to take care of the beautiful shell in which I reside.
So in response to the questions proposed by the #ladiesofhive community in their Contest 57, I'm going to tell you....
What are your nightly rituals right before bedtime?
Although the word ritual is associated with acts or actions performed in the veneration of a deity or the rejection of an evil force, for me The Ritual of Sleep is an act of love for myself. Venerating the deity that dwells in me!!!!

Every night I do the following ritual:
- At 08:00 p.m. I turn off the TV. I have found that exposure to TV light and certain programs keeps me awake, leaves me in a state of alertness and then sleep is quite a feat.
- As much as possible, I put on relaxing music, with happy lyrics or about nice things. None of those heartbreaking songs. The last thing I listen to and the last thing I think about is what my brain takes away and precisely what it wakes up with. So I try to make the last thoughts and the last thing I listen to be nice things.
- I read a book. But that yes, a fun, adventurous book. I recently read a book with a dark twist and it was worse than watching a horror movie. My brain was scheming all night about the outcome of the novel. Hahaha what a horror!
- I make tea. I like herbal tea, so some days I make basil tea, some days ginger, some days hibiscus flower. I almost never repeat them, you can make tea from almost any herb. I sweeten them with brown sugar or honey. Zero refined sugars, they put me on alert.
- Finally, like a Swiss watch, at 10:00 p.m. I go to sleep. I have found that for me that is the best time to go to sleep. If I go to bed after that time, it's hard for me to fall asleep, it's as if the time my body has for rest has passed.
So I already told you my ritual and the reason why I do it is for health, care and pampering myself.
This week I invite @nellyhope to participate and make community in Ladies of Hive.

And that is why I plan to step back from Hive following this Contest.
As much as I prepare for proper sleep, I can never get enough sleep as I rarely get 7 hours Uninterrupted sleep.
I work as a Full Time Night shift nurse.
I provide care and guidance for my Sons in the day.
Maintain a household on my sole income.
And the cherry on top is my sleep apnea.
So my health is now showing clear signs of suffering.
And my Hive blog which often takes the lions share of my spare time such that it has robs my sleep time with regularity. It's effecting my writing with my last post needing 8 days to put together in bits and pieces. My Health consultant has already warned me of this and my Doctor will likely reinforce that conclusion.
Thanks @tibaire for highlighting the importance in the practice of Sleep.
Wow you have a lot of activities during the day. It's not easy to work full time during the night shift and take care of your kids during the day. What time do you sleep?
I totally understand about Hive, but in order not to give it up completely, you can do a weekly post. Hive is a beautiful place and you tokenize your posts.
Sleep apnea is terrible when I sleep, some nights I have that problem, not being able to breathe well when I sleep. I try not to think about it and little by little I fall asleep.
I think you need a 30 hour day. I hope you can balance your schedule, although if your kids are young, you won't be able to do it yet. I really admire you, you give a lot of ti!!!! but there is a time when we must take care of ourselves and pamper ourselves.

I usually have chores and Hive done by Noon but have been pushing past 2pm more and more often. I have long done it as a wekly posting rate. My last post would take four days to put together actually took me eight, why? I am limited by my ability to control my dyslexic tendencies when I am feeling exhausted.
Commenting can be from 10 minutes going up to over half an hour sometimes.
Wow, you are exhausted, you need a well-deserved rest, a little vacation to come back with the strength and drive that characterizes you. I hope you can take that break soon. The dyslexia problem is a bit strong, it happens to me but when I speak it, I get the letters mixed up and the words come out wrong.
I totally understand, sis!

Thank you for you support
You received 5 LADY(LOH) tokens for entering the Ladies of Hive contest.
Please note that since our LOH token is still so new, that it will be worth more if we HOLD them for a bit before trying to sell them. Some have been trying to sell them immediately after receiving them, but holding them for a bit will help them to increase in value! We are working behind-the-scenes to try to keep the price stable, but the "sell orders" are hampering the stabilization of the price of this new token. Please hold on to your tokens. Thank you! 🙂
Thank you for sharig with me!!!

I love it!
Thanks for sharing, @tibaire.
Good luck with the contest!
"I think if I've learned anything about friendship, it's to hang in, stay connected, fight for them, and let them fight for you. Don't walk away, don't be distracted, don't be too busy or tired, don't take them for granted. Friends are part of the glue that holds life and faith together. Powerful stuff." Jon Katz
