The never-ending day-to-day life sometimes seems overwhelming. A small informal gathering can certainly uplift and encourage you, making you ready again and re-energized you for the difficulties of life.
With only tid-bits of planning you can have a very small get-together with friends! I had four of my next-door neighbors in my home.
Home-made Coquito brought by a Puerto Rican neighbor, Lillian.
Lilian gave me the Coquito Recipe: 1 can cream coconut, 1 can condensed milk, 1 can evaporated milk, 1 cup Puerto Rican white rum or Bicardi Rum, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg, and place it in a blender to mix!
She said it was a standard drink in Puerto Rican households during Christmas time.
Store-bought Double Dutch Chocolate Cake, brought by Deidre, another neighbor.
Fruits (grapes, persimmons, Mandarin Oranges), home-made chocolate-dipped pretzels and chocolate fudge brought by Julie a third neighbor, and store-bought wafers.
Raspberry and Orange Marmalade Cream Cheese dips.
Brie, Edam Cheese, Salami, and Prosciutto with crackers.
Old Fashioned Potato Salad
I provided the drinks, fruits, cheese and potato salad. The potato salad was easy to make using boiled potatoes, celery, onions, hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise, salt and pepper.
We had lots of fun and loads of laughter, telling each other the funniest thing that happened to us this year!
.Three and a half hours was not long enough. Were it not the time to prepare dinner, we could have stayed our visit much longer.
Between the five of us, we consumed all the food, save the one persimmon, an orange and a few grapes! I think it was the rum, and the Pinot!

Looks like a lot of fun and I do love little neighborhood get-togethers. Doesn't take long to put together and what a great way to bond with the neighborhood!

It so funny because we get to see each other once in a while, particularly during block parties which we didn't have the past two years.

Organizing my carrier path to begin a fruitful 2022. With baby and I alone these days,since hubby is at work, I just keep juggling between work, nursing and home keeping.

That potato salad looks delicious, I have never tasted this drink called Coquito, must be very sweet. Love those cheesecakes though personally, I don't eat too many cakes. You are really lucky, you have such good neighbors, my neighbors are so boring and they don't interact much...
Yeah, it prepares you for the challenges... once is a while you need it!

It was interesting to see the Coquito Recipe. I had never heard of it, but the recipe with the spices looks like it would taste pretty festive.
I have only had persimmons when made into a pudding. The ones in our area are very bitter even when ripe, but when made into a pudding?.... yum yummy !

I found this Persimmon Bread, looks promising:
Oh yes... pudding ! It's a thang from way back. Great Granny made it, Granny made it..... and now Mom. It's called pudding, but you mix it with other things of course, pour it in a baking dish and bake it. Then you can cut it into squares, but it IS very soft.
I'm pretty sure I've never had persimmon bread, but I bet it is good too.
