LOH CONTEST: "THANK YOU, MENTOR PHILIPS"

Good day and welcome to my post!
I am overwhelmed and grateful to God for the gift of life all through last year. A lot happened that seems it will be my end but here I am today with more strength and hope. In life, we meet people but not all of them are worth given a space in our lifes. I met a friend in 2022 whom I granted access to my life after evaluating him, he is popularly called "Mentor Philips". After we became friends, a lot of positive changes happened in my life because I humbled myself.
Mentor Philips is a teacher and a colleague who helped me when I was facing rejection in 2022. I was opened to him and I remembered the way he will always put a call through almost everyday to encourage me. He taught me the power of positive affirmations. I remembered in 2023, I made a statement that "I don't have money" immediately he corrected me that I should start confessing that I have money, this made my faith to grow and my words changed.

I am older than him but he is wiser and more knowledgeable. Friendship with him really humbled me because I was a lady with lots of principles and pride. I learnt how to tolerate people the more from his behavior due to the fact that He is someone that you cannot predict most of his reactions so I learned to give room to accommodate people with their uniqueness. In 2023, he introduced me to a lot of opportunities ranging from tech skills, to scholarship opportunities and trainings that could aid my growth. He helped with most of my graphic designing job. Almost all the designs I did last year were first evaluated by him and this really made me a better person in designing.
I am on hive today, through his connection and that I do not take for granted. When I started posting I was someone who lacks confidence in my ability, he saw that I can write but I believed that I am bad in writing because I feel my english is not good enough. When I first started I was always forwarding my post to him to help me edit it. It got to a time he spoke to him although in a painful manner which I was already getting used to, but I never took it as an offence instead I gained confidence in myself. I stopped sending my post to him and I started editing my post too. I will ensure that I read multiple times so that I can correct my errors before posting and gradually I was able to make good posts.
Mentor Philips is a disciplinarian and bold person. I was at home around late November last year when he called to show is displeasure towards my performance on hive. He said I was wasting an opportunity that many are looking for and that Hive is no longer a platform that people joke with. I felt bad because I knew he was disappointed. I had to amend my ways and that really helped me in December to post and engage more on hive.

My friendship with him is a lesson that one needs to be humble if you want to grow, we can't grow in isolation and there is no one that cannot grow. I am growing everyday.
My gratitude goes to my friend Mentor Philips, for always believing in me even when I don't, for helping and guiding me in most of my decisions and for his constant words of encouragement. I pray to see you in great places by God's grace. Amen.
