Hello Beautiful People! A few days ago, unexpectedly, I received an invitation to participate in a beautiful event. Which for about 3 years now, has been organized in the city where I currently live.

As I told you a little while ago, I am returning to my sweet profession of baking, and therefore to the fairs, where I can promote my business. Because of this, I received a beautiful invitation from a friend, and organizer of the event, to participate in it.

As many know, and those who do not, yesterday (October 19), is the international day of the fight against breast cancer. This is the reason why the date is used worldwide to organize events for women affected or for our own prevention. And here, it is no exception!

I was very excited to participate in this, I love social causes and if it is in favor of women even more. The event was already months in the making, but I arrived unexpectedly. It had been a long time since I had seen these friends and some of them didn't even know I had returned from Peru (where I lived for a year).

Melina Milano, mother, wife, friend, professional, migrant and breast cancer survivor. I met Melina here in Ecuador. Many of us Venezuelan migrants know each other here and often support each other in our endeavors and jobs. Melina is an ophthalmologist and motivational coach. Through OnCoaching she helps other people to overcome, especially women with breast cancer, based on her personal experience. Her motto is: "Your life doesn't end, it just changes".

For 3 years she has been organizing this event for the benefit of these women, and also to create awareness about the importance of prevention. She motivates these women and lets the families know the importance of love and support for each one of them during their entire process, which she says; It is the most important thing.

Although I have known Melina for about 4 years, and we followed the emergence of her desire to organize these events and work on behalf of these women, I must confess that for the first time I was part of this beautiful event. Not because I did not give it the importance it deserved, but rather because of work obligations.

But this year, that I have been able to be the owner of my time without a work schedule, I was able to include myself in this beautiful cause. Which I wanted to do from the beginning. Fortunately we have never had to face a similar situation in my family (and I hope it will always be that way). But as a woman and a human being, I feel it is something I cannot ignore.

I have always considered myself a helpful person, that's how my parents raised me, and I love being able to help others. To the point of feeling guilty if I don't help knowing that I can. So, whenever I can, it is no sacrifice for me to help or serve others.

But a little over a year ago, I became especially more familiar with these issues. A close friend's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Mrs. Lesbia is a strong, charismatic woman, mother of 3, grandmother, professional and always complied with her medical routine including her respective mammogram. But even so, they were not able to detect this individual until long after it had appeared.

It is so important to prevent, to touch yourself and detect these things in time. Many times it happens because of carelessness and other times because of the personnel in charge of these routines, as was the case of dear Mrs. Lesbia. Having already undergone a routine examination, shortly after a small pain in her left breast began to intensify to the point of being unbearable.

It was then that everything was discovered, something that had not been noticed in the previous examination (performed recently), since it was not done in the right way. But now that didn't matter. It was a hard blow for all of them as usual.

And I want to emphasize that I mention this because sometimes we let things as important as a little pain, a twinge or a bad placement of our breast in a medical routine that we know so well, just to avoid entering into controversy with the medical staff in charge of performing it. It is very important to take care of ourselves and to prevent.

We know a lot about it but it is something we usually do not take into account. After a year between x-rays and chemotherapy, yesterday (October 19, International Breast Cancer Day), Mrs. Lesbia received the good news that they have managed to overcome a metastasis in her spine to 70%, which is quite a lot after a year of struggle.

When I saw her at the event I could see her happiness and good spirits. She was super happy and that made me happy. It is not the end of her whole process, but to have made progress and to have managed to end 70% of her cancer is great news for her. I encouraged her to continue and reminded her that she will still have many beautiful things to live, to see, to feel and to be grateful for.

Like them, many more could tell of their struggles and how they faced them and won. And that, in turn, motivate many more. The struggle is not of one, but of all those people who love them. And this event celebrated the lives of each of those women.

It was beautiful to share with them, to collaborate with a grain of sand, and to be part of this beautiful work. The event took place in one of the main parks of the city, Parque La Rotonda (where it is held every year). The event began with a small fair, where everyone could collaborate to make a small donation. Where everyone could collaborate for the benefit of these women. And also to know what each one offered.

After this, there was a walk around the park, to celebrate life. All those people, family and friends of these women, could participate. For them it is something symbolic, since it does not involve much effort and in this way everyone can participate.

At the end, after a short time, there was a dance therapy for those who wanted to join in and have some fun. Although for many this activity can be really tiring.

The event was also attended by the current Miss Manabí, in solidarity with the fight against breast cancer, which is a fight of all. She was visiting the businesses and talking with these women who were happy to meet her. For them it was a very nice gesture from this young woman.

Amidst laughter, stories and sweets. The event was coming to an end. The lights in the fountain over the park's lagoon turned pink in honor of those who gave their best in their fight but still did not make it. For those who managed to finally win the battle. And for many more who are still facing day by day this terrible and challenging enemy called mom's cancer.

It was a beautiful moment, and for many of them it meant that they were not alone. That life deserves to be lived, and that all is not lost. That for them life has not ended, it has only changed.

I hope that each one of them manages to win their fight, and can enjoy every beautiful moment of life with their loved ones.

Remember to touch yourselves, so that it does not touch you. Prevention will always be the best option for everyone.

¡Hola Gente Bella! Hace unos días, de forma inesperada, recibí una invitación para participar de un hermoso evento. El cual ya hace 3 años aproximadamente, lleva organizandose en la ciudad en la cual actualmente vivo.

Cómo les conté hace poco, estoy regresando a mi dulce oficio de la repostería, y por consiguiente a las ferias, dónde puedo promover mi emprendimiento. Debido a esto, recibí una hermosa invitación de una amistad, y organizadora del evento, para participar en el mismo.

Cómo muchos saben, y a los que no, el día de ayer (19 de octubre), es el día internacional de la lucha contra el cáncer de mama. Razón por la cual se aprovecha la fecha mundialmente para organizar eventos en pro de las mujeres afectadas o para prevención nuestra. ¡Y aquí, no es la excepción!

Me sentí muy emocionada por participar en esto, amo las causas sociales y si es a favor de las mujeres aún más. Ya el evento tenía meses organizandose, pero yo llegue de manera inesperada. Hace mucho que no me veía con estás amistades y algunos ni sabían que había retornado de Perú (dónde viví por un año).

Melina Milano, madre, esposa, amiga, profesional, migrante y sobreviviente del cáncer de mama. Conocí a Melina acá en Ecuador. Muchos migrantes venezolanos nos conocemos acá y a menudo nos apoyamos en nuestros emprendimientos y empleos. Melina es oftalmólogo y coach motivacional. A través de OnCoaching ayuda a otras personas a superarse, sobretodo a las mujeres con cáncer de mama, basada en su experiencia personal. Su lema es: "Tu vida no termina, solo cambia".

Desde hace 3 años lleva organizando este evento para beneficio de estas mujeres, y además crear consciencia sobre la importancia de la prevención. Motiva a estas mujeres y da a conocer a las familias la importancia del amor y el apoyo para cada una de ellas durante todo su proceso, lo cual ella dice; Es lo más importante.

A pesar de que llevo aproximadamente 4 años conociendo a Melina, y seguimos el surgimiento de su deseo al organizar estos eventos y trabajar en pro de estas mujeres, debo confesar que por primera vez formó parte este hermoso evento. No porque no le haya dado la importancia debida,sino más bien por obligaciones laborales.

Pero esto año, que he podido ser dueña de mi tiempo sin un horario laboral, pude incluirme en esta causa hermosa. Lo cual quería hacer desde el inicio. Afortunadamente nunca hemos tenido que afrontar una situación similar en mi familia (y espero sea siempre así). Pero como mujer y ser humano, siento que es algo que no puedo ignorar.

Siempre me he considerado una persona servicial,así me educaron mis padres, y amo poder ayudar a otros. Al punto de sentir cargo de consciencia si no ayudo sabiendo que puedo hacerlo. Así que, siempre que pueda,para mí no supone ningún sacrificio ayudar o servir a otros.

Pero hace un poco más de un año, me ví especialmente más familiarizada con estos temas. La madre de una amiga cercana, fue diagnosticada con cáncer de mama. La Sra. Lesbia, es una mujer fuerte, carismática, madre de 3, abuela, profesional y siempre cumplía con su rutina médica incluída su respectiva mamografía. Pero aún así, no lograron detectar a este individuo hasta mucho después de haber aparecido.

Es tan importante la prevención, tocarse y detectar estas cosas a tiempo. Muchas veces sucede por descuido propio y otras por el personal encargado de dichas rutinas,como fue el caso de la querida Sra. Lesbia. Habiendo ya, realizado un exámen de rutina, al poco tiempo se comenzó a intensificar un pequeño dolor en su seno izquierdo, al punto de ser insoportable.

Fue entonces cuando todo se descubrió, algo que no se había podido notar en el exámen anterior (realizado hace poco), ya que no se hizo de la manera correcta. Pero ahora eso no importaba. Fue un duro golpe para todos ellos como es normal.

Y quiero resaltar que hago mención a esto debido a que a veces dejamos pasar cosas tan importantes como un pequeño dolor, alguna punzada o la mala colocación de nuestro seno en una rutina médica que conocemos tan bien, solo para no entrar en polémica con el personal médico encargado de realizar la misma. Es muy importante cuidarnos y prevenir.

Conocemos mucho al respecto pero es algo que generalmente no tomamos en cuenta. Luego de un año entre radiografías y quimioterapias la Sra. Lesbia, el día de ayer (19 de octubre, día internacional de la lucha contra el cáncer de mama), recibió la buena noticia de que han logrado vencer una metástasis en su columna al 70%, lo cual es bastante después de todo un año de lucha.

Al verla en el evento pude notar su felicidad y buen ánimo. Estaba súper contenta y eso me hacía feliz. No es el final de todo su proceso, pero haber avanzado logrando acabar con el 70% de su cáncer, para ellas es una gran noticia. La animé a continuar y le recorde que aún tendrá muchísimas cosas bellas por vivir, por ver, por sentir y agradecer.

Así como ellas, muchas más podrían contar sus luchas y como las afrontaron y ganaron. Y eso, a su vez, motivar a muchas más. La lucha no es de una, sino de todas esas personas que las aman. Y este evento celebraba la vida de cada una de esas mujeres.

Fue hermoso compartir con ellas, colaborar con un granito de arena, y ser parte de esta labor tan hermosa. El evento tenía lugar en uno de los principales parques de la ciudad, Parque La Rotonda (dónde se realiza cada año. Inicio dando a conocer varios emprendimiento en una pequeña feria. Dónde todas las personas podían colaborar a beneficio de estas mujeres. Y además conocer lo que ofrecía cada uno.

Luego de esto, se realizaba una caminata al rededor del parque, para celebrar la vida. Todas aquellas personas, familiares y amigos de estas mujeres, podían participar. Para ellos es algo simbólico, ya que no involucra mucho esfuerzo y de esta manera todos pueden participar.

Al finalizar, después de un breve tiempo, se realizó una bailoterapia, para quienes quisieran sumarse y divertirse un rato. Aunque para muchos está actividad puede ser realmente agotadora.

A este evento también se sumó la actual Miss Manabí, en solidaridad con la lucha contra el cáncer de mama, que es una lucha de todas. Ella estuvo conociendo los emprendimientos y conversando con estas mujeres que estaban felices de conocerla. Para ellas fue un gesto muy lindo de parte de esta joven mujer.

Entre risas, historias y dulces. El evento fue llegando a su final. Las luces en la fuente sobre la laguna del parque se tornaron color rosa en honor a aquellas que dieron el mayor esfuerzo en su lucha pero, aún así no lo lograron. Por aquellas que lograron finalmente ganar la batalla. Y por muchas más que aún siguen haciendo frente día a día a este terrible y desafiante enemigo llamado cáncer de mamá.

Fue un momento hermoso, y que para muchas de ellas significaba, que no estaban solas. Que la vida merece ser vivida, y que no todo está perdido. Que para ellas la vida no ha terminado, solo ha cambiado.

Espero que cada una de ellas logré ganar su lucha, y puedan disfrutar de cada momento hermoso de la vida junto a sus seres queridos.

Recuerden tocarse, para que no les toque. La prevención siempre será la mejor opción para todas.
