What is your favorite thing to enjoy during the holiday season, and why?

My favorite thing to enjoy during the holiday season is traveling and visiting people who matter to me. Because of work, I have been away from many of the people I care about. I hardly get the chance to check on friends, family, or even explore new places the way I used to. Most times, all I can manage is a phone call or sending something to support from afar. But as thoughtful as those gestures are, I have come to realize that nothing replaces the power of physical presence.

There is something beautiful and healing about showing up for people. A hug, a shared meal, or simply sitting together in the same space can communicate more love than words over the phone ever could. The holiday season gives me the opportunity to break free from my square routine; the same route from my workplace to the house, and then from the house to the market and church. That routine can slowly become a cage without us even noticing. We start to move like machines: wake up, work, home, repeat. But traveling breaks that cycle. With traveling, I get to see that there is a bigger world outside my usual path.

When I travel, I get to experience new places or return to familiar ones that carry memories. I get to laugh with people I haven’t seen in months, hear their stories, and share mine. Those moments recharge me emotionally and as well, make me have this sense of belonging. They make me feel alive again.

Holidays become the one time when I can slow down, step outside my responsibilities, and simply be present.
So for me, travelling and visiting during the holiday season is a way of reconnecting, and rediscovering life outside my daily square route.
