I wouldn't say I'm proud of my eating habits and lifestyle. There is a lot that needs to be changed, especially my sleeping routine. It takes a lot to go towards all healthy eating habits. But slow progress is something that I'm into because that seems achievable to me for now.
I have been struggling with some health issues and taking a lot of different steroids. On top of that, after my leg was broken last year and with limited physical activities I have gained a few pounds. Also, it hampers my eating habits because I needed snacks and junk to comfort me.
However, in the last few months after recovering; I'm taking a lot of self-care, and building a better eating habit is one of them.
The question is can I call it healthy eating or not? Well, to be very honest with you, I would still not call it one but I would say I'm gradually progressing.
Let me share what I usually eat a day and it will help you to understand.
Lunch
My day starts at 5.30/6 am, after taking my morning medicine by 7 am I take one cup of raw tea and a half-boiled egg. Then sometimes by 9/10 am, I do another breakfast with flat bread with my family but most of the time skip that.
Dinner
By 1/2 pm I finish my lunch with just a cup of rice and some curries. Then in the afternoon some light snacks and then at night usually just the protein/curries or sometimes with rice and curry.
There's no specific self-care routine that I follow every single day. But there's something specific I do for myself to stay healthy.
- I eat 95% homemade, freshly cooked meals, usually made by me.
- I take raw tea, lemon tea, and black coffee and never add sugar; sometimes only 'zero cal' sugar. I said goodbye to sugar for the last 3 years.
- I add a lot of protein and minimal carbs to my daily diet.
- I have reduced my fast food intake a lot; not more than once or two times a month.
But is that all? No, I crave a lot of snacks in between my meals. Sometimes I cheat too and have to deal with aggressive eating. But then, for the next few days, I try to detox. This happens at least once a month.
Also, I crave a lot of deep-fried food. From our local Pakoras to chips. I can't help but sometimes go for it. I wouldn't say, I tend to eat whatever I feel like but sometimes I fail to resist myself. And yes, also cakes; it's not always easy to say no.
If I were the judge, then I would give myself a 7 out of 10 in healthy eating habits. Now you say, what your rating would be?
I know, I'm not perfect and need a lot of change. The good thing is I'm aware, ready for a change, and making slow progress. I hope it will be steady so I can be proud of my eating habits.
Hey there, @rem-steem! First off, props to you for making moves towards healthier habits—that's awesome! 🍏 I get that it's tough especially with everything you've been through. It's totally understandable to crave snacks and junk food for comfort after an injury like that, but you're already taking positive steps by focusing on self-care and better eating habits.
Don't be too hard on yourself for not being perfect yet. Progress is progress, right? And it sounds like you're on the right track, even if it's just small changes. Every little bit helps.
Keep doing your thing and celebrate those small wins along the way. You'll get there! 💪🏼

Indeed, progress is progress and I'm slowly but steadily going there. Sure, it's getting hard sometimes to say no to my favorite junk foods, and I can't always do that either. But I'm pushing myself to achieve a noticeable change.
Thanks for your inspiration.
Have a good day.
A 7 out of 10 rating is more than good enough but of course, we all strive to be perfect so I think you're good.
Eating healthy also brings some kind of joy to oneself.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

It was the best step, cutting down the raw sugar. Hopefully, I'm going to cut my processed sugar down as well in a couple of months.
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. Have a great day.
You're welcome, nice day to you too
First off, I hope your leg is better now at least. We usually don't appreciate life enough till it hits us hard. That being said, you have a pretty good feeding routine, perfect timing too. I see you had rice twice in a day, you and my mom should twin because she can eat rice every day for a three square meal lol. Personally I like to alternate my food so it doesn't get boring or too overbearing.
I'd rate you 9/10 🙂
Rice is a soul food here. But as I'm aging, I'm thinking of something better, like more protein options at night rather than rice.
Thanks for your rating 😊
Have a good day.

Looks Delish and healthy.
Homemade meals are best, we know whats in them.
Prepackaged and highly processed foods ...stay away. Simple.
Sure, homemade is better than even any healthy options from restaurants.
