As a lady who has been privileged to have a taste of what independency feels like, I would say it is a stage in life that teaches more and helps every lady to act more responsibly and stay more disciplined. To be independent is not something that just happens, some who are even given the freedom to be independent still find ways to depend on people as they feel scared to get in that adventure.
It's one thing to be independent, it's another to feel independent. I'm one of those who didn't get the chance to have any independency even when I turned adult in my father's house until I had to go live on my own while schooling.
Having to adapt to being independent and be responsible for myself and my safety was a hard one to do but in the end, it has taught me better things at life. One of the many ways to feel independence is in our "finances".
To be financially independent means to have enough to cater for yourself without having to rely on anyone for both the little and big things to get done with your finances. Building oneself to this stage of life isn't easy for some while it is made that way for some people. What matters is how one uses this to help themselves and others around them.
I am focusing the power of being financially independent on women.
It is said that "women are weaker vessels" even though that thought have been changing with the way women are active in many finance making sectors. Women, whether single or married, should thrive to be financially independent to be able to exercise their roles as women, mothers or even young girls.
I have many reasons for saying this and I know you'd agree with me after I mention the powers that are behind woman who are financially independent. Of course, there are downsides to being independent too early or without any guide on how to use it but if done well, financially independent woman are powerful in these ways:
A financial woman settles her bills: I know it is the obvious but the power in this is that, they won't fall victim of men who give to take something from them, that is for the single ladies. For married woman, their husband would respect them more when they ask for money to sort every little bill out.
A financial woman doesn't have to own a huge wealth of money to be able to sort her main bills out, I'll share a way to stay in this independency at the concluding part of the post.
A financial woman gets her voice heard in the public: When they say, money stops nonsense, it applies to the women who carry themselves as the powerful women they are. There's a saying that "In a meeting, the rich man's foolish idea is accepted and the poor man's wise words is ignored", the main difference is the obvious, no money or poor finance management. Women who can manage their finance well would always get her voice heard when she speaks.
A financial woman hates being idle & cheated: It is hard to see a woman who carries herself as a financial Independent one sitting around the house doing nothing or being cheated to do anything. Financial women are mostly intelligent or smart to manage their finance and even help people meet their financial goals. Especially the mothers, a lot of husbands who lose their job on uncertain conditions are grateful to their financial independent wives.
A financial woman plans for her family and children: For the single independent lady, she has the power to plan for her family's future and comfort. For the married ladies, they have the power to prepare for their kid's future as they have the independent mind and finances to sort out some bills while the spouse does his part to make things work out easily.
How can a lady be financially independent?
It is quite the obvious and I'll mention what many would response to this question.
- Have the mindset to not rely on every penny from another.
- Get something doing no matter how little.
- Practice finance management.
- Find ways to grow your money, investment is a good option.
- Grow your skill(s).

Most ladies fall into marriages without any financial stability and they end up becoming a liability to their spouse. We all know men loves to be in charge of everything in their families, but women take that for granted, no man wants a liability as a wife.
Being an independent woman gives you that confidence and respect from your spouse.
Becoming a liability is what I don't wish for anyone to be, it can get really wrong at some point no matter how understanding the other party is.
Considering women as weaker vessels is becoming a dilemma now because in every field women are entering and they are showcasing that they are stronger ones.
