Flowers for Christmas

Can you guess what kind of flower this is?

I received this very unusual poinsettia as a Christmas gift from a dear friend. It almost appears to have been tie-dyed. I am really enjoying it and I love the colors. It has been painted with a mixture of dye and alcohol.

My friend's daughter works at the greenhouse where this beautiful plant art was created and I've included a video showing the process of how they paint the flowers.

I have never been terribly successful at keeping poinsettias alive for very long after Christmas, but I will do my best with this one!

very nice flower. But is it the so-called Christmas Star?

We call them poinsettias here, but I would imagine that they have different names in different parts of the world. Christmas Star seems like a very fitting name.

Here, they're given as gifts at Christmas and are usually red in color.

Yes, the same here. Red is most common. This was a white one before it was painted. They also come in pink.

Also dark red almost violet color too

It is a wonderful, very striking art that I did not know.
I have been amazed by the beauty.
Happy Holidays.

I think they are pretty unusual! I like the one he is creating in the video, too

Yes, the one in the video is beautiful, I like it too.
I have to find out how you achieve it without affecting the life of the plant, I want to learn.
Congratulations to your friend.

I think they make a non toxic floral paint, but he mentioned mixing paint and alcohol.

This guy says it is an ethanol based dye.

Excellent, I am already investigating because I am very interested in this art.

WOW

Looks so colorful.
I'd love to have these flowers in my place 💗

I will be waiting to see what it looks like when the plant grows!

It's a refreshing sight with all the different colors than the usual green and red. I never heard it being called ( Christmas Star ) before. Yes it is suitable for the time of year. I've also reblogged this. Happy New Year to everyone.

Thanks for the reblog! This guy at the greenhoise has gotten really good at flower painting.

Merry Christmas! That's a very pretty bouquet of flowers. If it weren't for the video, I'd have thought that they dye the water being fed to the plants and the petals hold on to the dye. Incredibly interesting.
Good luck with keeping them alive this time ;)

I remember putting dye in the water of a stalk of celery in science class it was easy to see how the water was absorbed into the plant and its leaves.

Your Christmas party warmed my heart! That is what Christmas is all about.

We call them "Weihnachts Stern" (Crhistmas Star as was already mentioned) but I never saw one colored this way!

That is a lovely name! It describes them perfectly!

I love it. Of course I would. It is so artsy !

I thought of you when I first saw it!

Too bad I can’t guess the name of fliers but I will say it’s a beautiful flower 😁

I loved them, they are beautiful and all those colors that beauty 😍

A beautiful Christmas flowers really is an art, I hope these flowers last long because they are beautiful.

That is awesome. Its like an Easter egg dyed poinsettia 😁

Wow, what a beautiful flower, really cool

It looks so beautiful 😍. Its color are so perfect!....

Wow, these are so beautiful. I have seen the flowers, they grow in one of the parks I've visited recently...

That is pretty impressive! It's interesting that it doesn't damage the petals. I think I could have a ton of fun coloring them, lol!

For what it's worth; I have never been able to keep them alive either. I wonder what the secret to that is? Take care and enjoy it!

Wowooo looks sooo colour full

Wow these have great colors!!
