LOH contest #99: My goal for the last quarter of the year

Hello to all the beauties of Hive!

This is the first time I post in "Ladies of Hive". The question of this LOH contest #99 is so relevant to my current life and I want to share about it. This post will answer the question about my goal and plan in the last quarter of the year.

My biggest goal during this time is to get a scholarship for my master study. Most of the universities will close their application portals by January, 2023. Thus, I have to complete all the required documents at the end of this year. This is a milestone in my life, and I needed a lot of courage to do it.

I'm not an extremely excellent student with countless achievements and prizes, so I know it is not easy to find a scholarship. However, you can't succeed if you don't try. Hence, I decided to take a gap year and spend time to prepare and polish my profile before applying to the universities.

This is my plan in order to win a scholarship:

1. Looking for suitable scholarships: I went on a ranking website to look for the universities that match my interest. I also joined Facebook groups to get more information from other students. I then created an excel that gathers all the data to compare the scholarships with each other. This sounds easy but it took me almost a month to finish all this work as there are numerous scholarships but not all of them are suitable for my profile and goals.

2. Choosing a mentor: as I mentioned, I'm not outstanding and the only thing that I can do now to polish my profile is writing great scholarship essays. However, it's hard to do it alone. Therefore, after watching dozens of videos from those who had gained a scholarship, I decided to find a mentor to guide and help me during this scholarship journey. The mentor, of course, will not write for me but direct me to express my ideas in the most impressive way. I'm thankful that I found a great mentor and we're working hard on the essays.

3. Writing & Preparing needed documents: I'm currently in this phase. These days, I spend most of my time brainstorming and drafting for my essays. During this time, I also contact professors and Vietnamese students at the schools I'm going to apply to in order to confirm all the essential procedures, and ask for some advice from them. Luckily, I had most of the required certificates so I don't have to worry much about them. Besides, there is a school that I aim to study in located in a country that doesn't use English as their main language. Thus, I'm also learning a new language.

4. Editing & Proofreading: I plan to keep editing my essays until the deadline to get the most ideal final. Besides, I'll always check for the information on universities' websites once a week to avoid missing any requirements.

5. Applying: I noted down the deadline on my excel and I'll make sure that I'll submit my documents on time.

I still had a long journey ahead and I'll try my best to reach my goal.
