RE: "The Allure of Beauty: Why Society Places High Value on Something Without Function"

Hello @crazywrites6. Thanks for participating in this week's contest. So that other members of the LoH Community can readily locate and enjoy your posts as part of any contest, please place the Contest number in your title per the instructions in the contest posts.

I read your analysis of the other aspects beauty brings to a society given it obvious lack of function. When you say:

"Throughout history, beautiful people have been associated with wealth, nobility, and prestige."

I feel this is true as a pinnacle to judge others by if they don't have the wealth, be of noble birth, and given prestige.

Also, you include the negative side of placing a high value on beauty. It's been well documented throughout our history how judging one by the concept of beauty essentially discriminates others that don't measure up to this concept. One example is the beauty pageant and the criteria for being selected.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this topic. Take care.
