Soren had his first Valentine's Dance this last Friday. I can not get over how quickly my little, first born man child is getting!
He hates it when I refer to him as man child, by the way. I started calling him that a few years ago when he started wearing deodorant. He came out the bathroom and I was like, "Oh no, you smell like a man now." Hahahahaha! I suppose I am not the only mother that sometimes struggle with the idea of their baby boys growing up. I always tell @therneau that he will understand it better once Katalina, our daughter, turn comes around.
This was Soren's first dance and, as is the case with most teenagers, he was very excited about the whole thing. I had to go out and buy him a new 'fancy' shirt and he insisted on wearing a tie and 'fancy' shoes. This from the child who walks around in pretty much anything most of the time.
As @therneau was still at work, I was a bit stumped on the whole tie side of the outfit. I used to wear a tie at school, many, many moons ago, but for the life of me I had no clue how to do one now. Turns it's not like riding a bike.
So I did what any millennial would do and turned to YouTube for the answer. It turns out it's actually a lot harder to do a tie on someone else. So I told Soren to go sort out his hair while I figure it out.
Thankfully it didn't take too long and I managed to get the tie sorted and off we went. I could see that he was visibly nervous, as well as excited on our way there. Soren talks a lot when he's nervous and he was all chatter the whole way there.
He had so much fun and happily reported that there was no smooching, hahahaha. Yes, of course I asked him that, we were teenagers ourselves once upon a long time ago. It makes my heart so proud to see how he enjoys all these first times and like so many of his earlier first times, I'm so happy to have been there by his side.
Thank you for Reading 😀
With Love Always, Justine.

Otherwise lol 😂

He's such a nice-looking young man! It's good to hear he had fun at his first Valentine Dance. 😊 I used to help my son with his tie, too, by tying it on myself, then loosening the knot so he could slip it over his head and tighten it again. 😁
