Embracing one's self

“Often those that criticize others reveal what he himself lacks.” – Shannon L. Alder

Have you ever heard hurtful words from other people? That they always criticize you for the things that make you feel embarrassed about yourself.

Hola ladies and gentlemen, I’m back and for today I would like to share with you some of my experiences and some of the things that I learned when other people would criticize me.

When I was young, I’m just a simple, small and brunette girl who only loves to play outside and doesn’t care what other people would say. I only wanted to enjoy my childhood together with my friends and cousins. Those times I actually didn’t care if I’m to skinny or chubby because I don’t really stress myself with those things. I also play badminton in our school even though I’m small but still I can do my best.

Not until my junior year comes, my body eventually change because of the vitamins that I take to help me gain a little weight but then I gain not just a little, but more weight than everybody expected. Like everybody, not just my family but even our neighbors didn’t expect it.

Since I was young other people always have comments like, I look like a bamboo because I’m to skinny but now they always say to my face, words like, “You’re so big already”, “lose some weight”, and “ lessen your food intake”. Yeah maybe for them it’s just simple words or phrase but little did they know it really hurts me a lot.

It hurts that they could judge me without even knowing what’s going on with my life. I’m really trying to lose some weight because everyone would think that I always eat whether I want to or not. So I would always choose to ignore those people even if I’m hurt but still, they would tell me that the same thing every time they sees me.

After that, they would act like nothing happen while me trying to build my confidence over and over again. My friends would always support me and says word to help me feel better but whether I see them it always repeat.

Criticize. Lose Confidence. Forget. Build Confidence. Repeat.

This became my routine whether someone will criticize me about my physical appearance. It really sucks that I don’t even do anything to them but they always have something to say about me. Somehow I already get used to it, those words have already been tattooed to my mind and heart, it could never be erased.

The quote above let me realize that those people maybe are the one who’s really insecure about their selves. That they are not contented for what they have and they have the time to criticize other people rather that focus on becoming the best version of their selves.

I do realize that people would always have words to say that can hurt you but it’s our choice whether we listen to them or not. Since I practice ignoring what other people would say I became more confident and happy for what I truly am.

To those who always criticize others, please don’t ever talk to someone if you know it could hurt them and if they could not change anything about their selves in just one snap or in just thirty seconds because they are also humans they can feel pain and they could cry because of those hurtful words you said.

Still, I’m very grateful and thankful that they did it because I learned a lot from those experience and I get to be the best version of my self. I became more confident about myself and now I just go with the flow when they say those things to me.

I would like to share this quote of Rob Liano, “Once you embrace your value, talents and strengths, it neutralizes when others think less of you."So we should always think positive and love ourselves even more because it’s also a way to ignore those people and those hurtful words they said.

That's sad. We couldn't really escape the grasp of a judgemental society but we could fight back and vouch our ourselves. It's your life, it's your rules. It's just right not to listen to them but your heart. Keep on shining, Gwyn. You're one of them gems, don't mind them. 💗🌸

Thank you for saying that @ayane-chan I really appreciate it and that's right, self love and acceptance is the key. We can't force people to love us.

It's really saddening that there are people who would criticize you for who you are just to make themself feel better
