❤️ 🧶 🧵Aime Gets Going And The Red Part Begins For Me❤️ 🧶 🧵

Yesterday I officially got @aimeludick going with her knitting! She actually WhatsApp me the day before to remind me that we needed to get started with her project! Once the knitting bug bites, you know... hehehe

Don't you just love this stunning purple? It's almost luminescent! Purple happens to be both of our favorite colours so we were both excited to get going with this one. What I did not factor in is that the purple yarn is quite a bit thinner. I bought Aime the same-sized needles as me, but as I was trying to teach her how to cast on yesterday, it was more frustrating than it needed to be because the needles were just too big. I'll try to pop into the wool shop today to get her/ us some thinner needles.

I finally reached the 20th row of my black section of Matthew's Oogieliboo (in case you didn't know, "Oogieliboo" is an inside family joke word that we came up with for alien shapes and animations from the early Star Trek episodes. Since my projects don't really fall into a category and are sort of unidentified knitting projects, we dubbed them Oogieliboos too! They are somewhere between a scarf, a shawl, and a knee blanket).

I cut off the black wool, very nervously and carefully and connected the red wool. Then we were going in no time! I've made you a video to show you how the process went and here are some photos of how I got going.

This sounds like such a fun and creative project! I love that you’re sharing your knitting journey with Aime. The purple yarn sounds gorgeous, and I can’t wait to see the finished Oogieliboo! Your family joke adds a lovely personal touch to your work

you know it means so much to me to hear that you enjoy my writing and especially if I can get a laugh out of someone. Life is already difficult, so if I can provide a minuscule relief from that, I am so grateful. Yes! Sharing this journey with my daughter has been awesome! It's a gift passed to me by my gran and my mom. I honestly never thought I'd never have a daughter to share this with, but thanks to @zakludick , I do!!

Knitting together? Why that a really sweet bonding 😻.

Right? I feel so very blessed <3

good past-time
