El empoderamiento femenino es un proceso de transformación social que busca que las mujeres tengan mayor autonomía, participación y reconocimiento en todos los ámbitos de la vida. En el 2024, éste sigue siendo una lucha constante ya que las mujeres enfrentamos múltiples retos y desigualdades en el ámbito laboral, educativo, político, económico, cultural y personal.

Uno de los conflictos más urgentes es el de erradicar la violencia de género, que se manifiesta de diversas formas, desde el acoso callejero hasta el feminicidio. Él es una forma de violencia que sufren las mujeres a diario y que afecta su seguridad, su dignidad y su libertad. El acoso callejero no es un piropo, es una agresión que busca intimidar, humillar y controlar a las mujeres.

Como psicóloga y como mujer, he vivido en carne propia el acoso callejero y sé lo que se siente. Esta experiencia me hizo replantear mi posición en el mundo y en la sociedad, lo cual me impulsó a ser feminista, porque creo que las mujeres merecemos respeto, igualdad y justicia. Como psicóloga, deseo ayudar a las mujeres a superar traumas de abusos de todo tipo, y a fortalecer su autoestima, su confianza y su poder.

Además, es de suma importancia sensibilizar a la población en general sobre lo infinitamente molesto o aterrador que puede ser para una mujer sufrir cualquier tipo de abuso. Las bases de nuestra sociedad tienden al machismo y son éstas las que se han de modificar para crecer como personas y comunidad.

Creo que el empoderamiento femenino es una tarea colectiva, que requiere de la solidaridad, la sororidad y el apoyo entre las mujeres. También creo que es necesario el compromiso y la responsabilidad de los hombres, que deben cuestionar y cambiar sus actitudes machistas y violentas. El empoderamiento femenino es un beneficio para toda la sociedad, porque implica el desarrollo humano y la paz.

Women's empowerment is a process of social transformation that seeks greater autonomy, participation and recognition for women in all spheres of life. In 2024, this continues to be a constant struggle as women face multiple challenges and inequalities in the labor, educational, political, economic, cultural and personal spheres.

One of the most urgent conflicts is to eradicate gender violence, which manifests itself in various forms, from street harassment to femicide. It is a form of violence that women suffer on a daily basis and that affects their safety, dignity and freedom. Street harassment is not a compliment, it is an aggression that seeks to intimidate, humiliate and control women.

As a psychologist and as a woman, I have experienced street harassment firsthand and I know what it feels like. This experience made me rethink my position in the world and in society, which prompted me to become a feminist, because I believe that women deserve respect, equality and justice. As a psychologist, I want to help women overcome trauma from abuse of all kinds, and to strengthen their self-esteem, confidence and power.

In addition, it is of utmost importance to sensitize the general population about how infinitely upsetting or frightening it can be for a woman to suffer any kind of abuse. The foundations of our society tend towards machismo and it is these that must be modified in order to grow as individuals and as a community.

I believe that female empowerment is a collective task, which requires solidarity, sisterhood and support among women. I also believe that it requires the commitment and responsibility of men, who must question and change their sexist and violent attitudes. Women's empowerment is a benefit for the whole society, because it implies human development and peace.
