I'm back! I wanted to keep my promise so bad by telling you a little more about my disorder. Remember I told you Here - Like I said, I've never spoken to anyone about it until now.
It's called Gerstmann Syndrome or Left-Right discrimination. Growing up, it wasn't really much of a deal because no one would keep track of how well I was matching on the assembly ground when it was time to go to class; I'd just giddily throw my hands high above my head and put my feet in any direction they wanted but by the time I was picked to match in the band because I had a beautiful smile - things started to go south.
I was always confused. I was assured that I didn't need to know any matching tricks like the band boys and girls, I just needed to match up to the dignitaries and present flowers to them - infact, I didn't need any training.
Couple of days to the D-Day and they started me on my training; Most of the time, I can easily distinguish left and right from my perspective, but if I have to distinguish them from the point of view of someone facing me, the side of my left arm is the side of their right arm — confusing, isn’t it? I didn't know how to communicate that when my trainer was facing me, I just couldn't grasp it but when he was backing me - ahaaaaa! I was a star!
Long story short - I slayed (I've been begging my mum to get me the picture 😭), I made a couple errors with the steps but beauty covers all 😂😂 I was super cute.
Why talk about this now? Because I'm trying to learn how to drive and I almost killed myself 😂😂. My Instructor kept shouting instructions - 'Amy turn the steering to your left a little, straighten your hand, step on the break with your right foot' It's endless! I just picked up my bag and went to eat 😭

I should probably get a tattoo that clearly marks my left hand from my right like Sydney tattoo artist Lauren Winzer , Image Source but I'm not a fan - soooooo.

I guess I have the same issue. I really can't intuitively tell where my right or left is when someone asks me. I need to give it a second and even a third thought before responding. It wasn't much of an issue when learning how to drive two months ago because I found a way to distinguish my left from my right. My right hand is the hand I eat with and the left is not. That's how I navigate 🤡
Lol, that's smart of you. I try to keep my phone in my right hand always but it doesn't work 😂
overtime it becomes intuitive. would suggest driving with little supervision when you understand the basics. I have improved significantly by doing just that.

Haha, this was funny the way you described it. I can't begin to wonder how your driving instruction felt when you just picked your bag and left 🤣🤣. You must have looked cute the way you did with your matching wonder as a child 😂😂😂
This just makes me want to look for that image myself since my mum doesn't want to help my ministry lol. It's funny to me sometimes too but it's all good really. The instructor must have been used to people like me or something cos e no send my papa 😭
