The more there is advancement in virtual technologies, the more we are becoming vulnerable to financial losses.
Most of the money we hold today is in the form of data. One wrong click may let our money be robbed. A typing error may make us face great loss. A little carelessness or lack of knowledge can devoid us of our assets.
The other day, I was watching a video of great financial losses people have had in contemporary times. There was an instance where a person mistakenly sold his 60k+ shares at the price of 1 yen while he was supposed to sell 1 share at the price of 60k+. It brought him the loss of millions of dollars.
In this particular case, the loss appears to be the case of carelessness. However, sometimes, you are very careful yet you cannot escape the loss. That’s what happened to me yesterday.
For one reason or the other, (despite wanting to learn crypto to fiat conversion,) I haven’t learned it yet. I needed money so I asked my brother to ask his friend if he would do the conversion for me (as he has been trading on Binance).
The friend agreed. He sent his Binance ID to my brother that he forwarded to me as it is.
Yesterday, when I saw that HBD was trading at 0.95$, I converted 10 HBD to Hive and sent them on the given address.
While doing all this transaction, I was really careful in typing the username (deepcrypto8) and the Binance ID as I was aware that if there was any mistake in the address, all the money would be lost.
Despite pasting the ID as it is, I rechecked the address thrice. Finally, I was sure that there was no mistake in it. I confirmed the transaction.
The Hive went out of my wallet.
I informed my brother about the transaction.
While I was waiting for the reply that the Hive have been converted, I got the reply from my brother, “Can you send me the slip of transaction?”
It alarmed me. He wanted the proof. It meant his friend had not received the tokens.
I sent him the screenshot of my wallet as the proof of transaction to the given Binance ID.
He said, “My friend hasn’t received the tokens yet. Perhaps, it takes time.”
I told him that hive transaction doesn’t take time. I told him to ask his friend if his deposits are on. Also, he should check if the ID he shared was correct or not.
He replied me that the deposits are on and the ID is correct.
I wondered what else can the reason be for this mishap.
I asked one of my hive fellow @kenechukwu97 if he could tell me what might have happened.
He looked into my wallet and figured out that the Binance ID doesn’t seem to be correct.
Binance ID always have 9-digits while the one I had sent my tokens to was comprising of 8-digits.
Ooooops! Despite being cautious I had to face the loss.
If I knew about this aspect of Binance ID, I would have taken care in this regard too.
It’s of no use to cry over the spilt milk. I am happy that the loss wasn’t overwhelming.
Nevertheless, I am still curious to know how that ID holder didn’t recognize that he had given me a wrong address. Interestingly, he said that the address was correct even when I asked him to recheck. 🤔
I will ask my brother when I will meet him. When I asked him yesterday, he said that he couldn’t contact him again.
Well, whatever had to happen has already happened. 🙃 and I have decided to be more careful the next time……… if it really helps 😉.
OUCH, well 10 HBD wasn't a huge amount but lesson learned.

It wasn't huge. I am happy for this.
You know 10 HBD makes around 3000 Rs. in my country. I would be happier if I had given it in charity...... but yeah! The lesson learned
Hope you are doing well, !LADY 🤗

Sorry for your loss and that's the way that I learned as well. Now I always send a small amount first to test the transaction. I think that there must be millions in failed transactions floating around in the blockchain graveyard.!
The other day I was thinking the same. Whomsoever I have met in the cryptosphere has a story such kind of loss.
Thanks for stopping by 🌹
My pleasure and you are so right, as I have met nary a soul that hasn't lost something at one time or another.

My dear, it's always like that in this new World of financial instruments. We have to be very careful and double-check numbers/addresses before clicking 'send'.
Don't even blame yourself for what happened. Just try to make the person see that he made a mistake in the memo he sent so that it won't repeat itself.
I've also made similar mistake despite the experience I have in the Crypto space. At the moment, I'm trying as much as possible to verify all numbers before sending out any token.
Take good care of yourself 🙂.
I am not blaming anyone, Kene. The loss that is destined to happen, happens any way.
We can just be more careful and spread the info for other's safety. However, safety is not guaranteed
Yeah. We can never be too sure when it comes to all these. A little mistake can make things go south.
Sorry to hear this news.
We have all lost money at some point due to numbers. It stings, but it teaches.
I use the little square to the right of wallet addresses exactly for the situation you describe. It copies the address to your clipboard automatically. It is surprisingly easy to somehow highlight, copy and paste the numbers wrong.
In addition I always do a test transaction, not because I am smart, but because I have sent money to the wrong address before and lost it. It stung a lot, but it teaches.
Good Luck with your future transfers.

Shall I tell you something.....!
I sent 10HBD as test transaction 🤣
Actually, I had to convert all the 34 hbd in my wallet. But then I thought I should send some smaller amount.
!LOLZ . I was mistaken at choosing the smaller number as 10.....
As you said..... it stung but it taught the lesson

But I've lived here for last 216 years, and haven't heard anything unusual.

Sorry about that. Even I myself made such mistake a couple years back and it wasn’t as if I was new to it or anything, the mistake just happened and it was too late to correct it I had sent the money to a wrong address. Funny thing is that I can see the wallet on the blockchain but it is inactive so the money is just there, sadly.

If no one have registered the account , you can open an account with the same username and you can recover your money.. for example if you mistakenly sent the money to a username "mistakili " and the account username is not yet picked , just open an account with exactly that username , the money will automatically be there , but if someone else already opened an account with the username z then the money will be theirs.
That's the case with transaction on Hive accounts, right??
What happened to me is that I sent the amount to a wrong Binance ID that can never exist.
Thanks for stopping by ♥️
Alright , sorry about that
Ooooops! What a misery.....😒

It happens...at least it was only 10 HBD...imagine if it was 100 or 1000? lol now you learned! I guess!
I have already lost money in scam projects which I it went to the same bag :P
I think everyone in the crypto sphere has a story of some loss 😳
Well, I am thankful that it was only 10 HBD.

It's sad but learning a lesson against 10$ is not so bad. I am surprised that a senior member like you does not have knowledge about the crypto-to-fiat process and when it comes to Binance it's super secure & easy to use. Do you know I joined the hive because of Binance?
I am too naive about crypto stuff.
I am not on Hive because of crypto but my !LUV for writing. Hehe.
Hive is a wonderful place for honing your writing skills and so I am here

This is very true...
The day I joined Hive I thought Hive was about earning free crypto by writing content but later I realized that Hive is not just that, it's about engaging with people and making new friends(getting new connections from all over the world).
Hive is even much more than that.
Gaming, vlogging, and developing. It is a place for everyone
Already enjoying everything, just the development is lagging behind but I have something in mind so hopefully, I will also enjoy it soon:)
👍
You can never be too cautious when it comes to crypto transactions. I double check and double check again every time I’m doing a transaction. Although, there’s been one or two times where in the middle of a conversation and processing a transaction, I made some mistakes and lost my funds. These things happen sometimes.
I saw someone in the comments mention a test transaction. I do this all the time too. I normally send 1 Hive first every time before I send huge amounts. But not every time. Maybe you could start doing this too? I’m sorry about the situation though.
No matter how cautious you are, sometimes, the mistake happen from nowhere and you can literally do nothing

You're right, it's not worth crying over spilled milk, but it still hurts.
Yup, it does hurt. 🙄
But nothing can be done.

I think we all need to be careful in case of transaction. Nobody wanna make mistakes but sometimes it happen automatically. Maybe it's because of fate.
It's a good thing that the transaction money wasn't huge but at the same time it's a loss also.
Yes it wasn't huge but I would be happier if I had given it in charity. It is a loss any way.

It would be better if such kind of thing occurred. But unfortunately, it didn't happen.
At least some people get benefited from it.
You have received 1.0000 LOH for posting in Ladies of Hive. We believe that you should be rewarded for the time and effort spent in creating articles. The goal is to encourage token holders to accumulate and hodl LOH tokens over a long period of time.
Thanks. I am hodling them tight
I remember sending hbd to deepcrypto8,i didn't know that it does not work that way, I cried over that transaction for days, but happy I learned from that mistake.
So sorry for your mistake
Lesson learned the hardway.
Sorry about that

Go to the Crypto Deposit Not Credited option.
Log into your Binance account and choose this option:
Submit an appeal. Choose HIVE, the amount, and fill in the TxID, which I think is this one: d29fb061be26c9fe13211de51e43459635bbb35a

And finally, wait for Binance to send you the HIVE back.
I had been away from Hive for more than a month. Reading this of your comment just now. Thanks for the guide. I will follow the instruction. See how it turns out to be.
I am wondering if it would work after passing several weeks?
Hello, welcome back!
Check your wallet. The Hive has been returned minus a small fee (0.050).
Because you did not reply, I made a test to see if I could appeal for another user (in this case, you), and it did work.
