What I like most is celebrating together / Lo que más me gusta es celebrar juntos - LOH contest week #267

Hello, my friends.

As I mentioned, I grew up in a society where these holidays weren't customary. Add to that the fact that I moved to my current house when I was five, and since then, it's just been my mother and me.

At most, we celebrated New Year's Eve with a nice dinner and waited for midnight.

Then, when Christmas started to be celebrated, things changed. Christmas Eve and other holidays also began to be celebrated.

Since then, my favorite activity has been getting together with the rest of my family and some friends who joined in the celebration.

That's how we stopped being just the two of us.

Once I started having partners, we combined both families.

It's very heartwarming to see how two families become one, each contributing their own customs, recipes, and activities.

Something I really enjoy about these Christmas celebrations is seeing how we all dress up, as if we were going to the theater or an important event.

However, what I enjoy most is the moment when the formalities end, we get comfortable, and sit together around a well-set table.

It's at that moment that the funniest anecdotes begin, about our experiences from the year that's almost over, or from the past celebration.

There isn't a single one of our get-togethers where something funny doesn't happen, something we remember the following year and joke about. There's always someone who falls asleep in their seat, someone who drinks too much and wakes up the next year, and so on.

It doesn't matter what we do at Christmas. Whatever it is, what I like most is that we all do it together.

Hola, amigas mías.

Crecí, tal y como les dije, en una sociedad donde no se acostumbraba celebrar estas festividades. A eso súmenle que me mudé a mi casa actual a los cinco años y, desde entonces, solo hemos sido mi madre y yo.

Cuando más, celebrábamos el fin de año con una buena cena y esperábamos las 12 de la noche.
Luego, cuando se comenzó a celebrar la navidad, ya las cosas cambiaron. También se comenzó a celebrar la nochebuena y otras fechas.
Desde entonces, mi actividad preferida ha sido reunirme con el resto de mi familia y algunos amigos que se unían a la celebración.

Así dejábamos de ser solo dos.
Ya cuando comencé a tener parejas, entonces uníamos ambas familias.

Es muy reconfortante ver cómo dos familias se convierten en una y cada una aporta sus propias costumbres, recetas y actividades.
Algo que me gusta mucho de estas celebraciones de navidad es ver cómo todos nos vestimos bien, como si fuésemos a salir a un teatro o evento importante.

Sin embargo, lo que más disfruto es el momento en que se terminan los protocolos, nos ponemos cómodos y nos sentamos juntos alrededor de una mesa bien servida.

Es en ese momento cuando comienzan las anécdotas más cómicas sobre nuestras vivencias del año que casi termina, o de la celebración pasada.
No hay encuentro nuestro en que no suceda algo cómico que luego se recuerde el año siguiente y hagamos bromas al respecto. Siempre está el que se duerme en un asiento, el que bebe de más y despierta el año siguiente, etc.

No importa qué hagamos en navidad. Lo que sea que se haga, lo que más me gusta es que lo hacemos todos juntos.
