"In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God"
Thus begins the GOSPEL OF JOHN, in the version of the Bible (1960) of us Catholics.
This is my conception from which I approach the development of this topic on destiny and Karma.
With regard to destiny, first of all I maintain that we are shaping destiny, day after day and year after year, with the sum of our decisions that are the fruit of our free will and then I will talk about those good or negative things that can happen without the intervention of our very free will. What we do determines who we are and I believe that equals come together in life; Thus it ends up happening that gossips hang out with gossips, artists hang out with artists, drinkers very rarely hang out with abstainers, and criminals almost always hang out with bad people like them. Each of us hangs out with people for whom he feel affinity and avoids hanging out or being with those he dislikes.
James 1:13-14 says:
"13 When someone is tempted, do not say that he is tempted by God, because God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. 14 but each one is tempted, when of his own concupiscence he is attracted and seduced."Consequently, we are attracting people who are related to what we are doing. Then when we run into someone it is we who will be responsible for continuing or stopping any relationship we may have. And what happens when we can't avoit it?
A Chinese proverb says that
"The flapping of a butterfly's wings can be felt on the other side of the world"This phrase, together with the research of the scientist Edward Lorenz, resulted in one of the most popular theories of physics:
"The butterfly effect" that we will summarize for its corollary that states that "A small initial disturbance, through an amplification process, can generate a considerable effect in the medium and short term".Well, we are not alone in the world, there are more than seven billion people living here and now together with us on this planet and the combined effect of everything that each one of us decides and does, surely ends up affecting everyone. For me, that would be our karma; how much can I do to improve our world, how can I amplify my good.
There are good people who run into bad people, sometimes those unfortunate encounters generate painful tragedies. We can also be affected by environmental pollution, contact with dangerous products can cause diseases. But I am firmly convinced that our willingness to do good and avoid harm to other people, the environment, plants or animals will contribute to making our world better. Our karma is all the evil and accumulated damage that continues to be generated. We can rebuild our destiny more beneficially for all and also the environment, along with all the planet's biodiversity is the responsibility of each and every one of us.
I can express another of my strongest convictions through this statement that a friend expressed to me:
"If something is determined, it is that nothing is determined in advance."
In my opinion that is valid for every man or woman. But randon also intervenes, causing unexpected situations and encounters whose consequences we cannot anticipate.
The will is the great engine of our lives and our decisions determine our results, although good and bad luck sometimes favors or harms us. Since we are not alone in life, what others decide can also end up affecting us in a positive or negative way. Karma for me is given by what affects us on a large scale and we cannot transform. But I have faith in the human future, and I always try to do good, because perhaps at some point, through an amplification process, it can generate a considerable effect in the medium and short term.
