The Burning Pyre - Insight Indian Cremation System !

in ecoTrain4 years ago

Cremation rituals vary from place to place, Indian Funeral system is one such process which includes a pretty lengthy process. Indian (hindu) funeral typically takes place within one day and sometimes two days after the time of death. It includes offer and respect at the last moment.

Indian (Hindu) generally believes in setting up a pyre or by burning them so that the soul leaves the body and be in rest.

Once the formalities were done, the body carrying vehicle, generally the ambulances were called to take them to the desire location. This may be a established cremation ground or may be an open ground.

The body were kept in open and all the friends relatives and well wishers join together to offer there prsyers and respect.

The family members carefully keeps body in the ambulances and follow them to the cremation ground. People use to say "Ram Ram satye hai" a very common words in the the name of god before saying goodbye to the dear soul

The cremation ground is generally used to be very quite. Obviously it is one of those place where nobody want to spend time in real until they were dead. At the ground, bunch of wood blocks already been arranged to set up the Pyre. The ambulances reached there and people starts to make a wooden bed for the dead soul.

Family and relative, starts to make the pyre without wasting the time. Mostly having good amount of experince, in setting up the pyre comes out early and start preparing without wasting time. No inequality and everyone is quite common at this place.

The most unusual thing I notice in the cremation ground is the amount of silence. Hardly anyone murmur any words and everything gets done very quietly. It was kind of coordination with each other. People know what they were doing

Once the base is ready with some heavy wooden blocks, the bodies were taken out from the ambulances and placed on top of the base. With the cloth all around the body, it was like a last meeting the body, before saying good bye.

This is the time, werr more rituals were followed and prayers were said. The last time we were looking the deceased body.

Once all the prayers and respect were done, more wooden blocks were placed on top of it, to cover the entire body. Last time the family were watching the body and in no time the deceased body were completelly covered under the wood.

Once the Pyre is set, and all the rituals were carried out, the head priest start to offer fire. In many cases, it used to the deceased elder son, who set the body on fire. This is the age old practice which vary from place to place.

Once the fire is offered, all the closed ones get far off from the place.

And then we stand nearby the burning pyre and say good bye to the soul. Once the body completelly burned and turned into ashes, the deceased relative or family members rakes the ashes to the holy rivers.

The site of burning pyre is not a good sign, as everyone of us especially the Indians will get to meet the phase. Though we only can get the experunce by watching others and getting a feel of what could be our end.
