My Cherry trees have started to flower and are forming leaves

in ecoTrain3 years ago

I hope this is the year I get some fruit, though I have been hoping for it for about two years now. These young Cherry trees are growing alot, but have yet to produce any fruit. Maybe this year will be the year though, but for now I can just enjoy their flowers. I have a few kinds of Cherry plants.. Bush cherries and the semi dwarf tree variety.

Along with flower buds, leaf sets are forming as well. Starting to see the green leaves pop out of the stems of the trees.

Seems our recent frost did not affect the leaves, hard to say if the flowers are okay.

The new leaves are all fuzzy, though the Apple leaves are even more fuzzy. But the Apple trees have yet to form leaves, they tend to do that a little later in the spring.

Well with all the leaves, the plant should be able to grow strong and eventually bear fruit.

The Bush cherry leaves are forming as well, though I do not see any flowers yet. Maybe they take a little longer to form.

All of my Cherry cultivars are around 3-4 years old now. When I got them they are probably a year old so soon they should be mature enough to fruit.

Not sure if I have ever had Bush cherry fruit, but looking forward to it.

A few of the Cherry tree blossoms are just starting to open up. Just in time for my Mason bees to pollinate them.

Some of the other blossoms look like they opened before our frost and the petals fell off.

At the top of one of the Cherry trees there is a cluster of new growth forming

Some insect built a home on the side of the trunk, a little mud home. Not sure what lives there.

Not sure if the flowers that got hit by the frost will produce, when it comes to my peach tree frosts have a big effect on fruit growth. So hoping the Cherry trees are a little more hardy and will still produce.

Beautiful shots, and I !LUV the commentary you add... it's so simple and descriptive, nothing lacking. Best of luck this year. 🤞

Thanks alot, glad you liked my commentary as well. :-)

Beautiful pictures. What a glory it must be to be able to observe growth in such a pure, tangible state. Wonderful work!

thanks alot It sure is fun watching them grow up.

I hope you get to eat plenty of cherries, good luck.

Hehe me too... thanks!

A great collection of shots with the progress! They are looking pretty good! Cherry trees take about three years to establish and can begin bearing fruit in the fourth year.

Woo-hoo! This looks like the year!

Ah glad you liked it, thanks... Yeah I already forgot how old they truly are.. but I would think they are four years old now so we shall see.

Nice photo shots I must say . Nothing actually beats nature. Hopefully your cherry tree brings forth fruits this year ; the leaves are attractive though.

Thank you very much.. and me too. At the very least it is happy growing.

Awesome close ups. I tried to capture some here in Krakow too but I could only go for the big buds as my phone camera struggled with the focus on the smaller ones :D Hope you will also get some fruit out of those :)

Thanks alot, yeah I hope so too. Hope you get a better camera eventually :-)
