Banana god blessings & steadily expanding food supply. But can I fit any more in here?

The weather has been a bit rubbish recently but this hasn't stopped me from my current mission of converting our south facing courtyard wall into a food jungle. While it may look like I am running out of space I still have a few tricks up my sleeve yet. Further to this I can't tell you how many people have commented on our bananas, visible on the right of the image. They don't normally produce fruit here in France, so passing people have been asking what we did to make this happen? All I can tell them is that the banana gods saw to it that the rules of nature made an exception for us ;)

The reason I am obsessing over food production here in our courtyard is because I am expecting food prices to get crazy soon, thanks to the current breakdown of the worldwide agricultural system and supply chains with it. Soon people will go hungry and they will likely start helping themselves to the food growing on our allotment.

It is worth pointing out that while I am preparing for this I am also holding on to a healthy amount of expectation that I may be wrong! But the bottom line is that I won't stop people taking from our allotment if they want food. This is being grown for everyone.

Here in our courtyard however, I intend to eat everything we grow.

We are thinking too about getting a dog. The kind of dog you don't mess with.

In other news I finally bought a wood saw. First time for everything! So my next job is to build one of these for the family:

The only thing I am confused about looking at this image is how the bottom doesn't just fall out when you sit on it? Am assuming the taper & drill technique must include wood glue? Anyone had experience with this kind of thing?

Finally, I have decided to buy this piano. We don't actually have the €2,000 but I am confident (now that we have this vision) the way will present itself in due course.

Music changed my life when I was seven years old because I was friends at this time with a Chinese music virtuoso. I was at a boarding school and taking piano lessons but found the scales and simple pieces boring. Outside of class my Chinese friend taught me to play with my heart, throwing all the rules out the window. To the dismay of my piano teacher & parents!

The name of this amazing young man (who I am still in contact with) was Jason Chang.

Do you see now why I want this particular piano? It is a Young Chang. Currently situated just a few miles from our home. What a perfect reminder of this first arena in which I learned to be free!

This is what I looked like at the time. Here with my sisters, during a holiday from that torturous boarding school.

So, I would very much like for Esteban & Luna to have this opportunity too (without the need for boarding school!) and at the very least to grow up to the sound of me free-styling it on this Young Chang.

Love & Light everyone :)

Yes! I am upping my food cultivation now too! Trying to make every space productive!
I have a banana plant that I grow indoors - outside for the winter - I have to look in to what makes them produce or start praying to the banana gods!

I have that thing about if people were coming to you starving, how could you turn them away. I have stores of wheat and could make a simple sprout bread or mana that could feed numerous folks. I always like the idea of bartering food for labor for if they can help with making the land more productive we have lots of area to work with.
Thanks for sharing!

I think our courtyard must keep the banana plants at a warmer temperature. And we did cover them a bit when there was snow.

Like you I don't want for people to starve when I have enough. For now I offer them the allotment. But things may change as time goes on. I have a few secret places too which I tell no one about. Though in these places the wild pigs are my biggest battle!

I imagine things will be alright this year. Fruit season is almost upon us...

And by next year I will be even better prepared ;)

Oh, they'll love that piano!!! That swing looks fun too - I'd probably throw a few screws in, haha!!!

Gawd - do you think things will get that bad? Best be prepared in either case. A dog that loves you guys and threatens everyone else is probably a good idea. Glad you are home and safe anyway. How's your Mum doing in the UK?

Ah yes! Screws. Good idea ;)

I am not expecting it to get that bad this year, but perhaps next. Some veg prices have spiked in the last few days because so far it has been an extremely wet spring. Torrential rain for much of it. Playing havoc with farms. We are lucky to live in such an agricultural region. There is fruit all around us and this year I will be buying a big freezer so we can store it! Cherries are just a few days away...

My mum is doing great thanks. I don't think I know anyone in the UK who is set up as well as her. Some folks just get it without having to know any of the facts. I envy her for that! Facts can be a real downer.

How are you getting on with your Spring?

A dog, yes! Your family would need a good bodyguard and playmate in the form of a furry friend. Get a big one.

Thanks! This has been on the cards for a few years but now I can see the full spectrum of benefits which come from having a dog. Looking forward to having an extra family member :)

You should have to cut down the flower or heart of banana making it's fruit grow bigger.

It's flower is a good source of fiber chop it ground it or chop it thinly and added ground beef, flour and an egg to make some patty. It's yummy 😋.

Thanks for the tip! Based on what I can see on YouTube I will wait a while yet before cutting. Looking forward to eating that flower very much ;)

the garden is looking awesome! maybe the bananas flower and fruit because of all the love you all put in to them.. im sure you agree they respond to our emotions! Enjoy the upcoming harvest! xx

I do agree. And yes, I have seen our success with a few things when the rest of the world was telling us it wasn't possible. But it is the stuff which happens effortlessly I enjoy the most ;)

The kids know what I want these days so they throw a little of their magic into everything for me. I really do believe that. How blessed I am they chose me as their student! x

Like here I live, God only knows how people will come in the next two month because of the predicted to come escalated food price

Do what you can to prepare brother. Where do you live?

I liked your garden, I also have a blog related to dogs
