There is a great YouTube channel I just started watching called "Not Just Bikes" and it's a guy from Canada talking about how he now lives in the Netherlands and it's SO much nicer there to commute by bike and public transit and just all the little things in the neighborhoods that make it better for people and not cars. I really recommend it.
I live in a very car-centric city but I'm a pedestrian. I would LOVE to see more and better sidewalks, bike lanes, and plants. I often feel like I'm just walking in the concrete jungle with cars whizzing by. I understand why people who have the option to drive do so here. It's not very pedestrian or bike friendly!
