Llamamos cambio climático a las variaciones en el clima de la tierra producto de nuestras acciones desmedidas en búsqueda de un mundo más productivo y mercantilizado, sin tomar en cuenta que dichas acciones pueden desatar una serie de acontecimientos desastrosos para nuestro planeta. El cambio climático nos afecta a todos e incide en el equilibrio planetario, viéndose en el deshielo de los polos y por ende inundaciones, aumento considerable de las temperaturas con incremento de sequias graves y aparición de desiertos no fértiles, llegando al cambio irreparable del ecosistema mundo.
We call climate change the variations in the earth's climate that are the result of our excessive actions in search of a more productive and commercialized world, without taking into account that such actions can unleash a series of disastrous events for our planet. Climate change affects us all and affects the planetary balance, with the melting of the poles and therefore flooding, a considerable increase in temperatures with a rise in severe drought and the appearance of non-fertile deserts, leading to irreparable change in the world's ecosystem.
El año 2007 visité la Argentina, como viaje turístico, donde tuve la oportunidad de ver con mis propios ojos la belleza del sur del continente. Visite casi toso el país, desde la ciudad de Rosario al norte hasta Ushuaia en tierra del fuego al sur del planeta, quedando enamorado del todo el paisaje gélido de esta parte de América. Una de las maravillas que robó mi atención fue el glaciar Perito Moreno.
In 2007 I visited Argentina, as a tourist trip, where I had the opportunity to see with my own eyes the beauty of the south of the continent. I visited almost all the country, from the city of Rosario in the north to Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego in the south of the planet, falling in love with the whole icy landscape of this part of America. One of the wonders that stole my attention was the Perito Moreno Glacier.
El glaciar Perito Moreno es una gruesa masa de hielo ubicada en la provincia de Santa Cruz, a la cual llegué en bus luego de muchas horas rodando y con mucha inquietud por ver, ya que no conocía ni la nieve ni los glaciares. Ya en la región de la Patagonia al suroeste del país pude ver el monumental glaciar que se origina en el campo del hielo Patagónico del Sur y que alimenta las aguas del lago Argentino. Su nombre fue puesto en honor El nombre del glaciar hace honor al director del museo de sociedad Científica Argentina llamado Francisco Moreno.
The Perito Moreno Glacier is a thick mass of ice located in the Province of Santa Cruz, which I reached by bus after many hours of riding and with much anxiety to see, since I knew neither the snow nor the glaciers. Already in the region of Patagonia in the southwest of the country I could see the monumental glacier that originates in the Southern Patagonian ice field and that feeds the waters of Lake Argentino. It was named after the director of the Argentine Scientific Society Museum called Francisco Moreno.
Para nuestra sorpresa y nuestra reflexión esta maravilla gélida se está achicando, su deshielo avanza considerablemente, dejándonos una gran interrogante sobre lo que hacemos como seres humanos, las decisiones que tomamos como sociedades y como seres individuales ya que este hecho se replica en todas las masas de hielo de la Cordillera de los Andes y de Europa. Sin ánimo de ser distópico los invito a pensar en qué pasaría si mantenemos este estilo de vida desenfrenado durante 30 años más sin observar las consecuencias en el mundo.
To our surprise and reflection this icy wonder is getting smaller, its thaw is advancing considerably, leaving us with a great question mark over what we do as human beings, the decisions we make as societies and as individuals since this fact is replicated in all the ice masses of the Andes and Europe. Without wishing to be dystopian, I invite you to think about what would happen if we maintain this unbridled lifestyle for 30 more years without observing the consequences in the world.
